Party Night - Picture Overload!

Two posts in two days, I may be on a roll!  Here's some pictures of our fun Halloween Party from Saturday night. I posted these on Facebook earlier this week, but my sis doesn't use FB, so I'm posting them all here mainly for her ;-)

My costume was from Pirates of the Caribbean. I have to say it was not that comfortable to wear, the 'off the shoulder' thing was rather frustrating and the cummerbund and belt just felt like they were riding up all the time! But it was still fun dressing up.I wanted Jason to be Jack Sparrow but the costume was $60 and we didn't want to spend that much (mine was on sale for just $29!). So he was a prisoner instead.

And here's why he picked a prisoner costume. . . .

Ha ha ha! Poor Boo! but really, I think he loved every minute of it!

Here's pictures of the food and decor!

I was going to make a pumpkin cake but Kristen saw this snake in a magazine I had so we did this instead.

I loved the guacomole!

and the first time ever we bought dry ice - it looked so cool in the kids punch bowl.

the gorgeous Cheryl (she's an angel really!) :-)

I loved Gabby's Ninja Turtle costume!

Loved that Rene was Woody and his little boy was Buzz :-)

 Angry Bird!

me and Angry Bird's Mom :-) AJ!

I set up a cookie decorating and mask making table in the dining room for the kids.

and outside I had 3 boxes of 'monster body parts' for the kids to FEEL!!!

 Monster Intestines! (spaghetti and oil)

 Goblin Eyeballs (grapes and olives)

Zombie Brains! (oatmeal and oil, with pumpkin guts underneath!!)
Cheryl has more fun pictures on her camera (more importantly, ones with me and her together, that I haven't seen yet). Hopefully I can share them later. We certainly had an awesome night and I'd seriously consider doing it all again next year :-)

We had a blast. . . .

at our Halloween Party on Saturday night. Kristen had fun last night too Trick or Treating, so I have lots of photos to share with you. First up, Kristen's costume this year - she was a Ninja! and pictures from trick or treating. . . .

Her friend Emily was 'Hermione'

and Connor was also a Ninja!

Our neighbor Dave (Cheryl's Dad) always sits outside and hands out candy. His is the first house we stop at.

there were lots of kids out this year. It was a lovely warm evening.

I don't know these guys, but they looked so good I had to get a picture!

the ghost actually kept popping in and out of this jack o lantern!

We hosted our very first Halloween Party on Saturday night. It was a ton of fun and we ALL dressed up.I'll post pictures later tonight, or I think this post will be waaaaaaay too long!!! Hope you all had a fun Halloween. Next on the calendar is Kristen's birthday party, and Thanksgiving. Kristen's birthday falls the day after Thanksgiving this year so I think we'll be having a party the weekend before.

4th July Ideas!

+++ I tried to publish this post yesterday morning before rushing out to meet Sue in San Marcos, but for some reason Blogger wouldn’t let me! It loaded fine this morning so here ya go!

We’re gearing up for our 4th July celebrations here. We’ll be celebrating with our fabulous ‘neighs’ next door as we have done every year since we moved here (4 yrs ago)! It is always a fun day and this year even more so . . .  my bestest bloggy friend Sue (and her wonderful hubby Doug) is coming to visit for the weekend from CANADA! They are actually in Austin right now (Doug is working all week) and I’m off to meet up with Sue today at the San Marcus Outlets – I can’t wait, and another whole post will be devoted to that outing I’m sure ;-)

But first, back to the prep for our party! I’ve been searching the web for some ideas and I’ve come up with quite a few. If you want some fun ideas read on . . . . (all pictures link back to the website I found them on)

I SO want to make this delicious looking trifle from Gina at Skinny Taste!

Check out the cute cupcakes from Mycakeschool.com I have that garland so I plan on making some little cakes and adding the stick and stars in them just like she shows!

Don’t these Daiquiris look amazing :-) and I love the white chocolate on the strawberries.

and I just have to make this martini – I’ve got the Blue Curacao from when I made the blue margarita, and  I already bought the Pop Rocks!

bluemartini Both drinks can be found at the lovely Pink Martinis & Pearls!

Clicking on the pictures will take you to the specific posts about how to make all these wonderful fun things.

Ok, it’s time to head on out to the outlets. . . . Suzie, here I come!!!

My Wonderful Weekend

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend. I certainly did. Although it wasn’t one of those Sunday’s where I just put my feet up and knit the afternoon away … I was busy in the kitchen making a lovely meal for my sweet little family – and it was exactly what I wanted to be doing!

and here’s my Mother’s Day Lunch Menu!

I wanted to make something that I really liked and that I know my mil likes too…. one of the things we both enjoy is salmon and asparagus – but ‘our men’ don’t really like that (Jason doesn’t like fish AT ALL!) so I came up with the idea to make a salmon and asparagus quiche, and also a bacon and gruyere one for the men.

We started with Mimosas (which I forgot to take a picture of, with pretty pink ribbons wrapped round our glass!) Then we had cheese and crackers and bread and dipping oil.

I’ll share more photos next time, and tell you what I got for Mother’s Day :-) Don’t want this post to get too long.

I have to head out to the ENT for a check up this morning. Last month he changed my meds as I was starting to get an infection. I’ve felt pretty good since then so I’m assuming he’ll keep me on the same stuff. Also got to go to the post office to mail some things I sold on Etsy!
