It's so quiet around here (sigh)!

Jason left for Denver yesterday and last night was one of the quietest I've had in a long while. Especially after having my sister and brother-in-law here for the past two weeks. I'm not saying they were noisy, it was just wonderful that the house was so full of love and laughter. Kristen was playing next door a lot last night and once it cooled down the kids were playing outside til after 8pm, and what with Jason gone..... well let's just say it was a little lonely for me :-/

But anyway, life goes on...... so I thought I should get back to regular blogging and give you a little update on 'the Farm' (which we still haven't named but just keep referring to it as 'The Farm'!). There are some new houses going up behind us and the other day we went over there once the workmen had left and took a quick look around. I was amazed when I looked out of the upstairs game room in the only two storey house over there and saw a birds-eye view of our back yard.... it looked HUGE! The next day the workmen weren't there, so I sent Jason over with the camera and told him to go take pictures (before someone moved in there). Here's what he saw......

You should click on the pictures to see them larger (and you'll see me and George on the back porch) ;-)

See that big patch of green grass in the picture above... we are seriously considering getting a pool in there for next year. We've hesitated until now because we think adding a pool might price us out of the neighborhood and we know if we ever need to move we would not get our money back when we sell. BUT.... let's just say after a week of nearly triple digits (and it's only June) we are starting to reconsider. The way we see it now, we don't have plans to move from here unless 1) Jason has made LOTs of money on the company he has part ownership in (and we wouldn't care so much if we didn't make a huge profit on this house) or 2) our wonderful neighbors moved out and 'crack-heads' moved in (and again, I'd be out of here so fast I wouldn't care if I lost money on the house!). So with those thoughts we may seriously call a few pool companies in the fall and have them come out and 'battle' for the job ;-)

The 'Farm' is coming along nicely, we've been harvesting lots of zucchini and green beans and patiently waiting for the spaghetti squash to ripen. We've even got a jack o lantern pumpkin growing which would be great to carve come October :-) Jason is out there every night and is loving it. He's been taking a ton of photos too so I'll try to share some over the next few days. I'll leave you with a picture of me, showing off our very first plate of cooked green beans.... and they were delicious :-)

I totally get what you mean about feeling lonely after the guests go. I think a huge part of it is being one of a large family, we get used to the chaos of people in the home and when it subsides we feel the loss, like we did as children when our siblings one by one left the Nest. I wish I could come back down and hang with you to help you through the hump!

Your beans look amazingly yummy! Good job Farmer D! Those pics of the backyard were great and yes you do have a massive backyard - lol.

Regarding the pool... I think if you keep the pool simple compared to the gorgeous one you had in the last house, it shouldn't price you out of your neighborhood. You may just want a simple concrete deck with nice garden around the edges. Just a thought from your simple friend ;-) lol

Glad to see you back blogging! I miss all my old bloggin' buddies these days :-(

Love ya xo

Oh believe me I've already told J not to go crazy on the pool budget. If we can build one for 40k then I see no need to try to add on and have the price be crazy like 60k (which he would do if I didn't rein him in) ;-)

Hey sweets,
awww....Nenna is missing you too.

The pool sounds a great idea. We had a pool and spa whilst our kids were growing up, actually it was a very good tool for making sure they learnt to swim well. Our pool was 6' deep up one end so they had to learn to swim and they did, and they used it every day and often evenings too through summer. We miss not having a pool now actually. Have fun choosing a design and all. Does Kiki know?

Oh yum, those fresh green beans look so good. My mum used to grow lots of vegies and there is nothing like the fresh you get picking things right out of the garden.

Loved your note this morning. Enjoy your evening. Lots of love 'n hugs, Julie xoxoxo

HI Denise what a wonderful yard you have. why would you need to worry about crack heads that looks like a nice neighborhood. You sure have the yard for it. We have lot of neighbors that have put in pools around here. Our yard is not big enough for one. I love fresh green beans! what a wonderful garden. The Garden is a nice name, maybe it should be called just that "The Garden". When I grew pumpkins I loved on them too, I thought it was so cool about the female and male flower, the birds and the bees. You have a nice tan for a British girl or English whichever you prefer? I know some folks like British and others English. I have family that came from Bath England something or other Earl which I don't understand about that stuff. I should read about it sometime. Have a great evening. big hugs

I meant to say Earl of Darlings or Darling of Earl well I can't remember it's been awhile since my dad told me the story. HIs middle name is Eyles which was one of the family names in England besides Carter. Hugs

had a message from Darylynn yesterday. Just an oversight on my part.

I thought you weren't blogging any more. The last time I stopped by you hadn't updated for a while. I've just caught up with all your goings on, you've been busy.

Anyway. Must go. Glad your farm is doing so well :O)

Hi Denise! Well, no more nude gardening for you with that bird's eye view your neighbors will have! Sorry about your hot weather. A pool is always nice but I was traumatized when I was little when a neighborhood boy drowned in our neighbor's pool. I saw the whole tragedy unfold... After that, I was too scared to have one when my kids were little. Now I worry about Ryan when he's at Pat's parent's home and they have an un-fenced pool. :(

Cute photo of you and I'm impressed with your green thumb! (((Hugz)))
