It's beginning to feel a lot like. . . .

Seriously! I know it's only the beginning of November but Christmas commercials are already on TV, actually I noticed them right after Halloween. I was down at the mall last week (I don't go very often these days) and noticed store windows were already decorated with tinsel and greenery! It does seem to get earlier every year, but to be honest, I don't mind at all. I am so wanting to get in to the Christmas mood :-) I will confess, I had Christmas cd's playing on my ipod last week while I cleaned in the kitchen and I had my Yankee Candle (Home for the Holidays) burning. I know I'm not the only one. All over blogland there is talk of holiday decorating and sharing of ideas for handmade gifts.

Just yesterday I found a lovely site that is hosting a 'party' starting today....

I won't be taking part in this, cos I haven't made anything of late other than knitted items. But I know for sure I'll be visiting every single link in this one to get some great crafting ideas. One thing that has already caught my eye (I've seen three different posts already) is homemade drinks coasters, using tiles and napkins or stamps. They look so simple to make I might just have to buy the materials and give them a try.

I thought I'd share with you what I found in Goodwill last week (I love browsing through there to see if I can find any 'household' bargains. I found these lovely Christmas plates this week.....

Aren't they cute, here's a close up so you can see the edge, it's meant to resemble twisted rope, so it's not a smooth edge (I'm saying that because I think it still looks smooth in the picture but it's actually 'bumpy'!) The set of 4 was just $5. They are about the size of a salad plate. Of course I will have to do a tablescape with them at some point ;-)

I also wanted to share another hat and scarf set I made for a champagne bottle. I think I mentioned that I bought the letters G I R L and B O Y to put on the scarfs.... here's the pink one I made

Well, I gotta dash, I have sweet potato casserole in the oven! It's Jason's Thanksgiving lunch at work today so he likes me to make his favorite dish (his mom's yummy recipe) to take each year.

I've got 'cranberry chutney' burning in the kitchen at the moment. And I've got two different types of Jack Frost (both by Yankee, one is a Warren Kimble special, I think that's the name, I might have got it wrong). Christmas can never start too early in this house. ;o) Can understand the delay with your outdoor lights. I wanted to do ours last Wednesday, but with all the recent upheaval to the garage, the inside was a mess and I couldn't get to the lights and extentions. I had to wait until the weekend to make a start, but at least I'm getting there. Plodding through, hoping it doesn't rain too much so I can get outside and get it finished in my own sweet time.

Sorry about your mum. It must be hard when you are so far away. I hope she's on the mend and back home soon.

Enjoy your week. :o) xx

Hi Denise!
Thanks for stopping by Carolina Panache today! I agree with you. Chirstmas can't come to early for me! As I shared in my post I am already packing away the pumpkins and pulling out the Christmas decor. Now about that mantel - I usually start by designing my garland. I will forever have a lush evergreen garland on my mantelpiece. I like to display them differently each year. This year I am using spruce, fir and cedar evergreens (all artificial) to build the base. Once that is in place I will choose accessories. That's what I am deciding now. Decisions, decisions! I really enjoyed visiting your site today. I will be over often :-)
Warmly,
Alisa

I'm not ready for the Christmas season just yet. I want to savor the fall a bit more.
Your GW find is terrific. I'll be eager to see your table setting with these charmers. Love the border on these plates! ~ Sarah

Hi Denise! I was telling Sadie this, too, but ignore people who say it's too early to think about Christmas. They're the ones that'll be running around like chickens with their heads cut off and not having time to relax and enjoy Christmas. I'm glad to have you two push me a little to get things done! (((Hugz)))

PS. I didn't see that comment from Sarah so not intended to be directed at her or anyone else. Some people don't have as much to do at Xmas as those with young families or with loads of D56 to put up! ;) (((Hugz)))

Best wishes, Natasha.
PS When we were in the US a couple of years ago I bought that same Home for the Holidays candle and it was my favorite! I must see if someone sells it here.
