I’ve been thinking a lot about this blog lately, why I started it, where it’s heading? I’ve always enjoyed blogging but lately I just can’t seem to find the creativity that seems to be needed to make a worthy post!
There was a time (when Kristen was younger) I would just sit here and journal about things that happened on a daily basis – hence the title of my blog! But over the past year or so (or has it been longer) I seem to have veered off track a little? When I look back at my posts, I don’t see a journal like I used to have, but posts about things I think might interest ‘my readers’!!
My READERS?!!! When did that happen? When did I start thinking like that? I always blogged for my family back home and for ‘friends’ I’d met on line. Most of you who read my blog I consider dear sweet friends, so who are my ‘readers’?
I’m wondering if that’s why I don’t feel like I have much to blog about, because the ‘readers’ out there would find my usual posts about doing laundry and making crafts, or knitting or planting flowers, boring! Not to mention that I haven’t taken a picture of anything ‘blog worthy’ in I don’t know how long!!
I think I need to ‘re-think’ this blog. I’m not sure if I should just close it or take a little (or long) break, as some do when they feel they have nothing to blog about.
Thinking. . . . . . . .

I am so with you on this. I started blogging to keep in touch with family. I was the one taking pics at all our events then posted on blog for all to see. Now I feel like I need more and more and I find I am blogging for others...I need to just blog for my family and stop thinking about what others would like to read..I do enjoy reading your and keeping up with you so don't stop but journal like you wanted and don't think of followers..Enjoy the rest of your week. Hugs, Jolyn
You definitely need to be blogging for yourself and not others. I enjoy reading your blog, but will understand if you decide to close it. Take some time :)
I enjoy reading your blog! I would miss you if I didn't know what was going on in your daily life. I do understand how you are feeling. I have not blogged in a week. Try not to stress over it and blog when you feel like it and don't worry if you don't! :) Carla
Oh My sweet! I have SO been here...like in the last couple of weeks! Ive had sick kids for what seems like 2 months {off and on} most recent over the last week...we all had Strep...ANYHOO, Im reading THIS post and jawdropped as to the IDENTICAL thoughts we are having! I have been asking myself the EXACT SAME QUESTIONS!!! I feel like I am doing projects so I will have something to post about and in turn, im running myself down! I am trying to figure WHAT is the purpose of my blog...and while I know it is PARTIALLY to share my "Projects" and Design work...but I am SURE that the LARGER picture is to CERTAINLY be for the Glory of God...
SO...I am going to be making some changes in the way I blog and I HOPE you will just pray and figure out what is right for you...Im hoping you wont CLOSE...I would be so sad :( Blog for YOU...not everyone else:)
I love you ta PIECES and would SO miss your blog!

Hi Denise--
I can understand what you are saying. I sometimes feel the same way. I enjoy your blog and would be sad if you decided to stop it.
Take time to think about it, and your answer will come I am sure.
Hugs!
Denise as your friend and reader for well over a year now I would be sad if you closed your blog. Please don't! You can blog as often as you would like and about any subject. You're right there are no rules. If it's a journal then you have to stay true to what you enjoy and want to do.
Warmly, ~Melissa :)
I would definitely miss your blog, Denise. As someone who writes about everyday life and a lot of randomness, I find your blog very interesting. You have so many talents and such a great personality, it just shines through. Sometimes you have to just get outside with your camera or walk around your house and shoot pictures of whatever delights you, and there you go...you have a post.
I have had a little burnout...posts have been a little random, but things will pick up. Take a step back and see if you miss blogging. You will reach a decision soon.
XO,
Jane
Don't blog "to" your followers. Blog FOR yourself in the form of a journal as you meant it to be originally.
Denise please don't close your blog!! I sure would miss you. It has been a joy getting to know you. Just don't put pressure on yourself to blog.... just blog when you feel like it we'll all still be here. As I'm sure you have noticed sometimes a month will go by in between my post. I blog when I have something fun to share but I can't blog everyday or every week for that matter. So have fun with it with no pressure.
Blessings,
Dana
As my kids grow older, they now have a say in if/when they appear on my blog.
My blog focus is definitely shifting.
I still was to use my blog to record our family memories, but it gets more complicated, doesn't it?!!
do you not think you might have just overstretched yourself by having separate blogs for knitting and healthy food, that could be why you find it a struggle sometimes? You've said so many times before that you won't write about knitting/eating in case it bores people and so you started different blogs for them. If you are trying to post on three blogs it is going to get a bit tricky because those things will overlap.
You know how many blogs I keep, and you know why. So I understand why you have tried to keep things separate, but rather than keep it 'private' and 'public' all your blogs are public, which means you might as well just merge them back together as one because they all cover aspects of your life that you share anyway.
At the moment I am mainly writing on CR for no other reason than it's fun. Last week we had a terrible end to the week (Bill's car was hit by an idiot and it is shocking that no one was killed). I chose not to write about that on CR because I keep it for upbeat stuff like crafts, with a few thought provoking but not too deep posts here and there. I don't want to share anything that unhappy on CR.
RDD is the only place I will talk about really private stuff or how I am feeling about things, because I know exactly who goes there. And they aren't my readers, they're my good friends that I've known for years.
CR readers are different, some comment and some don't. Some I know, and some I don't. And that's all perfectly fine. So they are readers, but that doesn't make them any less important to me.
So I suppose I am saying that your Blog should be what you want it to be, not how you expect others to want it to be. Blog for yourself. And take breaks when you need to. I used to feel bad if I couldn't write everyday, but not any more. If I have time/something to say, then I'll write. If not, I don't. Simple as that. Life is too short to worry about something so unimportant.
I hope that gives you some constructive help. And that it doesn't sound preachy. It isn't meant to.
sometimes making a change is all that's needed to refresh the enthusiam!

Hi Denise! I always say that my blog is a blog about nothing... like Seinfeld. I wouldn't even blog anymore if it wasn't for the fact that I don't want to lose touch with the really good friends I've made in the almost 10 years I've had a blog! I think back about meeting Sadie when I think she was around 29 and unmarried and I've watched her get married, have a daughter and been there through tragedies and almost tragedies. To me, it's the friendship... not the crafts, recipes, decorating ideas, etc... those blogs are all interesting and fun but I personally wouldn't want the pressure of trying to make interesting posts with tons of photos, etc... Facebook is okay for keeping in touch but it's really on such a superficial level compared to our blogs... especially the way they used to be. I hope you continue to blog in a way that comes easy for you. I would really miss you if you stopped! (((Hugz)))
i can relate i think as creative souls we all have those times i think the best thing to do is just step away and just enjoy what you are doing for you and it'll come! enjoy a little time off!! hope all else is well! susan
just me. glad you knew what I meant with my comment. I kept worrying that it sounded bolshy and unsympathetic!
I'm sure you'll work out how you feel and what you want to do.
and something worth thinking about, is how many comments you get. People always take time to leave a note. That in itself says a lot, and proves that you and your life are not boring.
just thought I'd mention it! ;o) x
Trust me when I say you are not alone in this thinking! The last few weeks I've been trying to decide what to do about mine too.
I originally started mine when I was a rubber stamp demonstrator and that has been over for a while. As a stay at home mom I don't really do anything but cook, clean, and play taxi. So not a lot of exciting thing to discuss.
Good luck with figuring out what is the right thing for you to do!
Hi sweets,
I know you think your blog is boring, but I for one always enjoy my visits here. I do hear all you're saying though and think that what Sadie said might be worth considering. I think most of us love our lives and probably others would consider them to be quite ordinary...but to those who love us (like your friends and family who love to drop by to check how you're doing) accept you just the way you are. You don't need to impress us...just being you is absolutely fine. So my dear friend, just blog when you feel like it, and if you don't, then don't. Feeling pressure to come up with amazing stuff, takes the pleasure out of it for all of us and turns it into a chore. So sharing the ordinary stuff is fine with me, and you don't have to start a new project so we'll all be amazed. Really, those that love you are just happy to connect with you, and those who drop by for a floor show and live entertainment might just move on. Just be you....being yourself is always good enough...that's why we love you! ;)
Hi Denise....
WelWl you obviously would be missed!!~ You just blog about whatever your heart desires. I read blogs that are all kinds. That is why I like them. If we were all the same, it would become a task to read all and see the same. So I think diversion is good. You will figure it out. I have taken a few breaks myself here and there. Always does me good.
XO
You definitely would be missed if you stopped blogging! And do post for you - your readers are here because we like YOU!
I hope you stay blogging. You are wonderful and you would be missed.
