Piano Recital.

Kristen performed in her first piano recital yesterday :-) We are so proud of her. She played two pieces, one was a duet with the teacher, and the other was Home on the Range. We took a small amount of video on my camera and now I want to see if I can upload it so you can all see. For now here's a couple of pictures of Kristen with her piano teacher, and after the performance.

I've managed to add the video below but it's a bit 'jumpy'? Not sure how to fix that. I'll add the other one later. + Jason said the files are probably too large, so he'll help me compress them later so they play better.

Getting busy. . . .

I'm sitting here at the computer checking email, so I thought I'd write a quick post. I think what's been stopping me from wanting to blog here is that I don't really have pictures to share each day and I don't want to take too long posting. Perhaps if I just make little updates then it will be better than no post at all.

We've had a lovely weekend, I'm happy to say "as usual" because most of our weekends are really nice. Relaxing, fun, no stress - all that good stuff. We're getting in to a weekend routine these days where Jason works all day Saturday at home in his office. Kristen plays next door with Connor, or they take turns and come here and go there :-) I get to potter around just catching up on laundry if I want to, or knitting, making lunches, popping to the store if I need to, but for the most part just relaxing. Then on Sunday we have 'our family day'. Jason has started coming to church with me and Kristen every week now. After church we try to do something together (or if it's not something I fancy doing, Jason and Kristen do it together). For instance last week Jason took Kristen and Boo to a nearby river to go hiking. The river is dry so they got to walk along it looking for fossils and generally 'exploring' the land. Not something I really fancied doing, so I got to sit home and knit ;-)

Just yesterday after church we went for pizza (we usually go to lunch afterwards, as a weekly treat) then we took Kristen to Baskin Robbins for icecream. This was so she could use her 'free icecream' voucher that she got from her teacher last week. Why'd she get this you ask? Well, she got her first '9 week' report card and got ALL A's and made the Honor Roll :-) We are so proud of her. As a special treat from us we took her to the toy store after the icecream and let her pick out a toy. She chose THIS, it's the dog from the new movit Bolt, coming out on Nov 21st.

Now it's another new week and back to 6am wake ups! I can't wait for Thanskgiving week when there's no school all week ;-)

OK, I better jump off here before this turns in to a 'not so short' post (which I think it already has)!!!

Still here. . . .

I'm sure there's a few of you wondering where I am or what I'm doing! I'm still here :-) Still doing the same old 'same old' - which I'm not complaining about, cos I love it! It's been nearly a week since I last posted so I thought I should make an effort and pop on here to say hi (if indeed there is anyone still popping in here).

I've been to the gym 3 times this week (Mon, Wed, Thur). And despite putting a few pounds on (which I expected to do as I gain muscle) I'm happy to say my jeans are fitting much better around my middle, so I know my body shape is changing and I'm gradually toning up in the areas I want to. I would have gone to the gym today but I have to wait in for some new furniture to be delivered. Yes, I finally sold my 'ugly' brown sofas and I've bought a new sofa and chair. I will share pictures once they're here. Not sure if I've mentioned it here yet, but I'm planning on repainting the living room and getting new window treatments as well as some other new furniture like coffee tables and a new kitchen table.

It's still so warm here it's hard to believe that Thanksgiving is nearly upon us, which also means Kristen's birthday is just around the corner too! I'm keeping it simple this year and just inviting a few of her little friends over plus our neighbors. We'll celebrate on the Saturday before her birthday which will be the 22nd Nov. Her birthday is the following week on the Tuesday, and she's off school all that week as Thanksgiving is that Thursday. It should be a fun time. My inlaws will be away in California for Thanksgiving so we will be spending the day with our wonderful neighbors - they have kindly asked us over to share Thanksgiving dinner with them. Kristen is thrilled as it means she gets to play with Connor all day. And the very next day is Connors birthday too so more celebrating for us all :-)

OK, off to do more housework. Have a great weekend.

Happy Halloween!

Well you didn't think she was going to dress up like a princess did you? Kristen is on the left with her friend Emily. As you can see both are crazy Pokemon fans this year!!!!

Will post more pictures later. Today I'm hoping to sell my 'ugly' brown sofa and loveseat!!! I've bought a new sofa which I'll share at a later date. I'm getting ready to redecorate the living room - so that should give me something to blog about. I know how much you all like to see BEFORE and AFTER pictures, and I promise I won't disappoint!

Happy Saturday!
