A Whole Year!

Has it really been over a year since I wrote in here?!! I really had no intentions of getting back to blogging,but I made a promise to someone (who shall remain annonymous) that I would post here at least once a week so they knew what was going on in our little corner of the world! 

So, what is going on in our little world? Well, I'm not going to try and post about a whole years worth of stuff. Suffice to say, all is well in our little world and here's what we've been up to lately.... School! Started back early, here in Colorado. Kiki started 8th grade 3 weeks ago! Hard to believe she'll be in High School this time next year! 

My inlaws came for a visit at the beginning of August and were here for Jason's birthday and Kiki's first day of school. 

We are going to a wedding tomorrow! A friend of Jason's from work. He actually got married a couple of months ago, but they are having another ceremony for friends and family. I don't think Kiki will be going! She started gettint a sore throat yesterday, and today is all congested and stuffed up. She's pretty worn out too and is just sitting on our bed right now watching tv! Tomorrow is a holiday (Labor Day) here, so she at least has another day off before going to school. Hopefully she'll be feeling a lot better by Tuesday.

Not much else going on this week. Kiki got her expander on (she'll be getting braces in a few months but needs an expander first!). She seems to be putting up with it pretty well. I have to 'turn' it every night with a little key so that it keeps expanding!!! 

Pups are doing well, not much to report with them, other than I'm going to try and groom them myself! It costs me over $100 to get them both cut and they need it supposedly every 6-8 weeks!!! Kiki and I don't even spend that much on our hair. There's lots of how to videos on YouTube, so we'll see how I get on. 

Well, that wraps it up for this week. Might have more to write by next weekend!

First day . . .

It's here, the day I haven't been looking forward to. The first day of middle school!! The end of our lazy summer, lazy year for that matter. Homeschooling Kiki last year (and this) for 6th grade was fun, and I LOVED that she was always home with me and I knew she was safe. But it all changes today :-( today I have to let by baby go out in to the big (it's not all bad) world. Where did the years go.

I know she's nervous, but I think I am more! I now have to wait hours to find out if she was ok, if she had a good day, and if she thinks she's going to like it?

I walked to the bus stop with her this morning, it's just a few yards away from the house. No other kids were there, she was the only one getting on at that stop!!!! Not surprising when our homes are acres apart, and I have no idea where the other middle schoolers live. I'm not even sure there was any kids on the bus? But I'm assuming there was because it had already stopped a couple of times in the neighborhood. I know you want to see pictures... So here they are....

Climb Every Mountain!!

It's been a couple of weeks since my sister left, but now we have my inlaws visiting :-) The other day Jason suggested we 'climb' Bell Mountain! (Bell Mountain Ranch is the neighborhood we live in) You can see the mountain from one of our decks.... Jason has done it once before on his own.

Here we are at the top, with our tiny house in between us!! (in the red circle again). It was a fun walk.... kind of! but I'm not sure I'll be doing it again any time soon. It took about an hour to walk up there from our house.

Lunch in Castle Rock - (picture overload!)

It was a super hot day yesterday, but Nenna and Horhay managed to get a little sunbathing in on the deck before lunch. We then had a drive down to our little town of Castle Rock to look around (Jason  was working).  There is a large 'Barn' there that has lots of little craft shops in it. Nenna loved looking around (as did I) and Horhay. . . .  well, I think he kinda liked it too. Here's a few pictures. . . 

After a little shopping we went for lunch across the street at a little place called Siennas. We sat outside by the fountain.

and snapped a couple of pictures of the 'Castle Rock'.

In the evening we went out for and Indian Meal :-) 

I think a good day was had by all.

Zoo Day!

We had a fun day at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo yesterday. It's located in Colorado Springs and is about a 50 minute drive from us. The weather was wonderful, the views up there spectacular. Here's a few photos from the day . . . . .

 

Giraffes are the main attraction at this zoo. For a couple of dollars you can buy lettuce leaves and feed them. Have you seen the size of a giraffe's tongue!!!
