Less than a week!

It's less than a week now! This time next week we'll already be in England, in fact we'll probably be asleep in England! Right now it's 8pm here in Texas. The UK is 6 hours ahead of us so it's 2am on Sunday morning for them :-)

The past couple of days have gone by fast. On Thursday night I went out to book club. This month we read 'gods in Alabama' by Joshilyn Jackson. This was a book I wouldn't have bothered picking up on my own, but it was a good read once I got in to it. The meeting was fun and lively as always. I really do love this club :-) Next month's read is The Maytrees by Annie Dillard. I went out and bought the book today so I can get started on it. It will give me something to read on the plane too. I find the hours can slip away when you're deep in a book, rather than just flipping through magazines.

Last night Kristen had her school friend Katelyn over for a sleepover. Katelyn is a very quiet (and shy) little girl and I wasn't sure if she would actually make it through the night without wanting to go home (it was her first ever sleepover), but she did and the girls had fun together. This morning I took them both round to the pool for an hour after breakfast. What I love about our community pool is it's never too busy (at least not at the times I go). There were just 2 women there when we arrived and they were just lounging on chairs chatting. They left after about 20 minutes and we had the whole pool to ourselves. We only stayed an hour then came home and the girls had a quick bite to eat for lunch, while I jumped in the shower. Then we took Katelyn home, and Kristen and I went off to the book store. I got a couple of knitting magazines and the book for bookclub, and Kristen got some Pokemon books and magazine for the plane next week.

It's been a lovely relaxing Saturday once again. Not an exciting post tonight but I just wanted to write something so as not to keep you all wondering where I am or what we're doing. I will try to make it a little more exciting next time!

Pokemon is so popular. My eight year old loves to watch the show, look at the cards and play the DS games.

Hey D!

Your Saturday morning sounded like ours! We took my sister and her family over to our community pool in the morning and we too had the pool to ourselves which was nice!! I like it best when it's quiet!

The countdown is really on now for you isn't it? I'm excited for you as you prepare to go "home"!! I bet it will be hard to sleep Thursday night :-)

I'll sure miss you while you're gone!

Have a great week of prep. Hope to "see" you before you go!

Love ya xo

Sllep-over are so much fun, great the girls could do that, and I think it's good for them too.

Have you started packing yet? I know the last week before a trip is lways so busy with so much to do, so if you don't get time to finish up scrabble, don't worry OK.

Enjoy your evening. Big huggles. xx

Hi Denise! UK is 8 hours ahead of me. :) I've never seen that name before- Joshilyn. Looks like another made up one like mine! Glad Katelyn didn't need to go home- you must'vemade her feel safe. Enjoy the week ahead... you won't even be here for all of it! (((Hugz)))

Yes sweets, the scrabble game ended. I wish it didn't just do that too, the only person who knows it's ended is the person who has the last go. Hopefully in time they will improve it. I like the fact it adds up the scores for us and tells us if we can't put a word down so we don't have to go looking for a dictionary.

So do you have your packing started yet? What sort of temps can you expect in England?

That reminds me, my sister had to take her knitting off the needles and put the needles in her main chacked in luggage, as they wouldn't let her take her plastic needles in the cabin! Like how much damage can a pair of blunt ended plastic needles do? Knowing how you love to knit, I wondered if you'd be able to take yours.

I'm sure the week will fly by and you'll be over there with your family in no time. How wonderful for you all.

I still haven't renewed our passports and I also need to contact Canadian immigration as we plan to head up into Canada also. I don't want to get stuck at the borders for any reason.

Enjoy your Austin evening! Warm huggles across the Pacific puddle. xx
