Kristen is studying Mars in her Quest class at school. Last Saturday the teacher had arranged for us to go on a small field trip to the University of Texas campus to check out the Observatory!

Viewings were from 7pm to 9pm. It was just getting dark by 7pm so the first thing the 'grad student' who was showing us the telescope did was show us Venus. I wasn't really sure what to expect when I looked through the telescope, but what I saw was just a very bright crescent shape, like a very bright new moon really.

I think Kristen was a little disappointed too, she was probably expecting to see things that looked a lot closer. Still it was a fun thing to do, and it got us out of the house for a couple of hours on a Saturday night (although truth be told, I like staying 'inside' the house on a Saturday night) ;-)
Don't mind Jason 'up there' - he's just looking at URANUS! Ha ha , of course I'm just kidding.

Hi Denise! It's fun to get out sometime and do something totally different than what we are used to doing. Your spring rolls look delicious in your post below. Hope you are having a great week! ((BIG HUGS))
looks like it was a nice little trip out.
the spring rolls look yum. No, I've not seen the wrap things over here, but, we do have tons of blue dragon stuff so maybe I've just not noticed them. I'm going to have a look in Sainsburys on Saturday, see if they have them.
Thanks for visiting today :O)
have a lovely Wednesday xx
Good Morning Denise! What a nice fieldtrip for Kristin. When we first went, I was expecting something different when we looked through too. I was disappointed. :-( I guess I thought things would be more 'dramatic'. You made me laugh at your Jason comment. Sending you big hugs!
Hi Denise,
I felt the same way as Kristen did when I finally saw something out there in space. My dad was excited but I wasn't too enchanted. He worked for the space industry... he showed me once what he was working on. It was small and not very exciting, yet he was proud. Just like a kid, I said something like "Is that all you've worked on!" What did I know? I am sure he understood it from my point of view but I hope I was more flattering (but I don't think I was). HUGS
