Whassup!

A Mess! That’s Whassup! It’s Whassup Wednesday over at Kara’s place and I was really thinking I had nothing to blog about, but then I decided to show you ‘my mess’ ;-) Nothing like keeping it real right?

So, here it is . . .

DSCF4422 My pantry! I can thank Melanie for getting me started on this ;-) Earlier this week she posted pictures of her pantry and other storage cupboards in her new home. You can check out her ‘pantry post’ HERE.

DSCF4426

At first glance my pantry doesn’t look too bad (ignore the blue cloth hanging there, I’d already started cleaning when I decided I’d take pics), but my pantry is pretty small and it gets full very easily – so full infact that things start to spill over on to the little desk right next to it . . . .

DSCF4428

Yeah, this is the REAL mess I was talking about! It just about drives me crazy!

DSCF4421

So, yesterday I got started on trying to clear and organize it all – yet again. I cleared some space in the cupboard above the desk so I can start putting cans in there again.

DSCF4424

It’s a work in progress. As of tonight the desk still looks like it does above! The picture below is still a ‘before’ shot too!

DSCF4425

Hopefully by posting it here it will motivate me to get it all finished and I can post a few after pictures of it later this week.

Speaking of ‘MESS’, I have more! Remember I mentioned that I want to clear out a spare room and create a craft space for myself this year? This is what I’m dealing with!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DSCF4448

I mean, seriously! I don’t even know where to start. I keep walking in there . . . . . and then I just walk right back out again – wouldn’t you?!!

Joining Kara for Whassup Wednesday.

I feel the same way alot of the time stuff just gets shoved places I hate that!! One of my goals this year is to put stuff where it belongs and keep it organized we shall see if that happens.

Wow! My mouth just dropped open at your spare room. Yikes! Denise I just could not handle that in our home. I would start pitching things out and donating left and right. I have a phobia about clutter. I think it would make a fantastic craft for you! Do it soon!!!! I want to see it all pretty and bright. Make it *yours*.

The pantry is looking fabulous! Ours is really empty right now. I'm snowed in and I'm starving. I'll get some groceries tomorrow.

Have a good night!

Hey girl. . . I just caught up reading several posts of yours that I'd missed. My youngest son's computer (a hand-me-down from his oldest brother) broke last week, so he's been using mine. And so I've hardly been online at all! It was fun catching up on what you've been up to. Congratulations on your good eating--even if it only lasts awhile, it's worth the effort! Good for you! And I must say that Key Lime martini sounds good; i'll be glad to know when you post the recipe that Cheryl used. I LOVE key lime pie, and I love specialty martinis, so this sounds heavenly to me!

Hope you're doing well and staying away from that aggressive dog! Love ya!

So funny but I am going to clean and organize my pantry tomorrow :)

I feel your pain! We have had some snow days and I wish that I could say that I spent my time organizing, but I didn't. Good luck with your pantry. Maybe you will inspire me to do better. Carla

Denise,
You warmed my heart with your comment that you have hot cocoa ready for your daughter when she gets home from school! What a SAHM! (We use to call ourselves domestic engineers!)
Thank you for visiting On Crooked Creek with your sweet comment. Stop by again, soon!
Fondly,
Pat

Hi Denise..so glad to see a post of yours pop up on my side bar, I thought I had added you so I would not miss it, and then realized I did not. Anyhow, come please and clean my pantry while your at it. Mine looks just like yours did, I even have that rack on the door. Have fun!

I could come help you if I lived closer. I love to organize and get rid of stuff. The work on your pantry will be worth it. That room, just take a thing at a time. Get rid of it if you are not using it. I know, I have moved a lot this year.

If you will tear the tops off your boxes like pop tarts, it will make it a lot easier to get stuff out without having to take things out when needed.

You also know that I am a firm believer in clear canisters and labeling. You are doing great. Don't give up.

I can totally relate to this Denise! I can't stand when things get cluttered and not organized how I want. Just a few days ago we got busy and finished our entire spare bedroom that had a lot of stuff that we didn't need in it. So we decided to finally just GET IT DONE! Some stuff I gave away, and some things are in the back of the car waiting to be dropped off at Goodwill.
It sure felt good to get it done! Woohoooo!
Good luck with all of your projects! It looks like you are one busy gal over there :)

I think everyone has pantry fever! I've sorted mine, and that too is a work in progress as I've got a few bits to buy and add, but can do that over time. And a friend of mine has just organised her sprinkles and decorations in such a lovely way that I am determined to do the same.

If I had a spare room like that I'd do it in a flash. I'd love to have a room just for me, the kitchen doesn't count! Bill has his den, Humbug has her room and the living room, and her playhouse, but I have nothing. I do have a plan, but that will have to wait a little while.

Have a great day. Pouring here, it's very day and gloomy

:o)

Just start with one thing in storage/new craft room and everything else will come together.

My pantry is getting a reboot too! As for the room - well, a box a day, a little at a time. It will be done in no time.

Hey there! Thanks for keeping it "real" for us! Your pantry shots look organized to me! And, now your cabinet looks just as nice. And, wow(!), I'd *sooo* be turning that room into my own personal craft/create room! I can't wait to see what you do. Have a great day!

Hi Denise...Whasssuup? What a great post. Your pantry looks so organized. I seriously need to jump on the "clean your pantry" bandwagon. You did a wonderful job!

I'm excited to see how you make that spare room yours. If I lived close, I'd come on over and help ya. I have an empty room upstairs and I don't even know what to do with it. lol! Good luck and keep us posted on the progress.

Thanks for the sweet comment today!

Sis, I love the mess, especially the room you walk in and out of as your pics always look as if you would have no mess at all - only thing is I beat ya, I have 2 of them. One was gonna be a craft room the other is going to be a bedroom when I can find the time to start it and I'm not even gonna mention the cupboard under the sink. Enjoy the clean up. Love ya x

Hi Denise! I was going to say that the pantry looked pretty good to me but I agree the side area was getting cluttered! ;) I like organizing things... especially when you can buy new baskets, containers, etc... Bed, Bath and Beyond is good for that as is The Container Store. We're lucky to have one within driving distance. Even Jeff loves The Container Store. (((Hugz)))

Oh Denise, I can soooooooooooo relate. I had a pantry like yours in my old house, and here I don't even have one. UGH! It is hard to keep it organized when it is so small. I had the same organizer on my door for more space. Can't wait to see your after pictures.

I'm with you on walking in and walking out of your future craft room. I guess since lately all I have seen is boxes, now when I do, I just want to cringe. You'll get there though. :)

Hope your having a lovely day.
Hugs,
Cindy

Oh Denise I'm so sorry. I wish he could help you figure out where to put everything. Could you have it as a craft/ music room for both of you to share? He might like the idea and help you. I can picture it all cleaned up pretty. Shucks, I'm sad for you. Sigh. We should all use our homes to the fullest. After all we are paying for each and every square foot right?

Good luck. Show us the cleaning you do get done. I love reading those posts. I've always enjoyed cleaning and organizing since I was a young child. *Smiles*
