We're finally in!!

Helloo there, time for another update :-) I've been trying to add this post for days now, I just never seem to be able to get on here. Either Jason is still working on it and Kristen is playing on hers after we've done school, or if Jason gets off, I sit with him out on the deck and watch the sunset.

Anyway, we are finally in our new home and although we don't have any furniture as yet, we do have the computers that we brought with us (actually we just brought one and we bought a new one so Kristen could do her school work on it, while Jason worked from home too!). So I'm hoping to try and blog a little more now, and evern MORE once we get our other computers and I get my own back.
We closed on the house last Monday, and as soon as we had the keys we drove over here. We had nothing but the clothes in our suitcases, and the computers, and the puppies :-) After an hour or so of just soaking it all in (the views are just gorgeous), we left the puppies in the house (Bindi in the utility room, cos she's not potty trained, and Boo still doesn't like her!) and we went off to walmart. We bought airbeds, camping chairs, some pans, paper plates and plastic cultery, AND a tv!!! We've been living like this since then, and loving it. We'll love it even more once all of our furniture can be delivered. We just found out yesterday that that won't be until next Friday!!!! Urghhh, I don't think I can wait that long, but I have no choice!

I showed a few pictures of the views from our deck a couple of posts ago. Tonight I want to share some of the gorgeous sunsets we've been getting. Jason and I like to try and sit out there most evenings and just watch the sun go down. A glass of wine (and a beer) make it all the more relaxing :-)

I took these tonight.

The last one is not as clear but it's a photo of the 'Sleeping Indian' Mountain. It's kinda hard to see in this picture, but the mountain in the middle of the picture is known as that because it looks like an Indian lying down (his head is at the left, feet sticking up at the right).  We googled the 'sleeping Indian' for more info but it turns out it's actually called Devil's Head Mountain!! There's a bigger picture on Wikipedia HERE.

I have some other things to chat about, that we've done this week, Kristen and I went to our first field trip with K12, AND I went out to my first book club meeting!!!! I will post more about those next time ;-)

Back To School!

I've always taken pictures of Kristen on her first day back to school. Usually with a new back pack and new clothes, and new shoes. This year the pictures look a little different!

School started for us on Monday 20th August, but we are doing the K12 program this year, which is a virtual school online, that you do from home. It's kinda like homeschooling but a lot of the lessons are online, with a lot of teacher support. I still wanted to take pictures of Kiki's first day, but instead of new clothes, she was still in her 'wolf night shirt', and instead of a backpack, she carried 'Cecil The Computer' Monster, that I knit for her ;-) (it's from a book called Knitted Monsters) . . . .

Yes, we have been doing our school work in pj's this week, and it's been fun ;-) I am sitting with Kristen for all of her lessons so my day is pretty full. I'm her 'Learning Coach' and I help her prepare for the lessons, get the books she needs, supplies that she might need for Science and Art. It's like I have a full time job now!! Once we move I will have to get a schedule set up where she can do some lessons on her own, while I do housework and laundry etc.

So, speaking of when we move - we are hoping to close on the house on Monday morning. If we don't sign the papers that day and get the keys, we will be in a hotel room for the night!! I will be off line from Sunday night until Wednesday afternoon, when hopefully we will have cable installed at our new home. Until then. . . . .

Updates

I can't imagine anyone is still checking in here, but I know my sister still checks every day! I just skyped with her today and she told me that :-) So, for Nenna, I'm posting some pictures and giving a little update to the rest of you that might check in to tell you where we are with the house etc.

This past week Kristen and I got out a little, we went to a Wildlife Experience museum that is literally just down the street to us. We spent a good few hours there and I took a few pictures with my phone because I hadn't taken the camera.

Just yesterday we went to a local alpaca farm. I treated myself to a skein of alpaca yarn (in pink, which I intend to knit a pair of cozy winter socks for me) and Kristen got to pet the alpacas. There were lots of baby ones too. I took a couple of videos on the camera too but they will probably take forever to load (it's such a slow internet connection in this house), so I will just post pictures.

So, update on the house, we found a house not long after I last posted, put an offer in on it, and we are hoping to close on August 27th. I am counting the days til we can be in our own home and have our own furniture and belongings delivered. Life has been pretty stressful the past few weeks, I think the puppy is what caused most of it, but things are settling down. Bindi is doing good, it's just that Boo is still scared of her and growls if she tries to go near him. It doesn't help that she doesn't just walk up to him, but bounds towards him like any puppy would, wanting to play and frolic!! Hopefully he will get more used to her over time.

I'm not sure if I've mentioned this, but Kristen has opted to be homeschooled this year! We have registered her with K12 - COVA which is Colorado Virtual Academy. Its an online public school and she will do most of her work on the computer along with some studying in text books. I will be spending a lot of time "helping" her, my title is 'Learning Coach'. It's up to me to get her lessons ready, set schedules etc and log her attendance online. We have a lot of support online too and she will be assigned a home room teacher. It will be a learning experience for us all, and might be the only year we do it. I have a feeling Kristen might want to go to school next year so she can meet more friends. We will get to meet other kids and families this year doing the K12 program, but perhaps not as quickly as you would if you were in a school every day.

If Kristen decides she likes learning at home then I will ofcourse let her continue it. I love the idea of her being home (SAFE) with me every day ;-)  And when the snow comes, we plan on doing lessons in our pjs, cozy at home with some hot chocolate, watching the snow fall.

Ok, that's my quick update, while Kristen and Jason are out at Petsmart taking Bindi for yet another shot! I think we still have a few more before she's finished with them all. I'm sure I'll be back on here much more once we all have computers. Right now we only have one, and Jason uses it a lot and Kristen plays on it whenever she can. It doesn't leave much time for me to get on, so I usually just sit and knit.

Oh, before I go, here is a picture of the house we are buying.

A few of the views out back, some zoomed way in so you can see the mountains!! I can't imagine this all covered in snow in the winter, but I can't wait to see it (neither can Kristen) :-)

While I have a spare minute!!!!

I am jumping on here while I have a few quiet minutes! Life is crazy right now but I wanted to give a quick update for those who don't see me on Facebook, or email.  So, we are in Denver, that you know. We are renting a house on a month to month basis (fully furnished) until we find a house to buy.

Last week we found this house and thought we'd go ahead and try to buy it. . . . .

For a few different reasons, we have decided this is not the house for us. So we keep looking.

What's making life more crazy right now is . . . Bindi!

Yes, we are completely crazy and we've bought another puppy. She's a 10 week old Pomeranian. The reason I have a few quiet minutes is because Jason and Kristen have taken her to puppy school at Petsmart. Boo is not a happy guy, he does not even want to sniff her, let alone her get anywhere near him. I'm hoping that changes soon. He has never been around other dogs so it's not surprising, but I was hoping that because she's so small he would at least go near her!

Well, I could type lots more but while the house is quiet I am going to try and knit for a little bit. I'm not getting much chance these days as every time Bindi is away she needs constant watching incase she makes a bee line for Boo, which she often does, and I don't want him snapping at her and hurting her unintentionally.

I hope to be able to get back to blogging on a regular basis when we are finally settled here. Right now, Jason is the only one with a computer and Kristen plays on it a lot and he works on it at night so I don't get on here much. I use my ipad to check email etc, but don't feel like blogging on it.

Until next time. . . . .

Update coming soon!

We are in Denver!! I'm sure many of you know that by now. I have pictures to share but they're loaded on Jason's computer and I'm on my iPad. I will try to add and update later today.

Graduating - with Honors!

I just realized I hadn't shared pictures on here of Kiki graduating from Elementary school!! We've been finished school for a whole week already, but the Thursday before the kids got out the school had a graduation ceremony for the kindergarten kids (in the morning) and the 5th graders in the afternoon. I have to say I had tears in my eyes as the kids walked in to the hall with little hats on and they played the 'pomp and circumstance' tune (The Graduation March). I think I'm getting overly emotional in my 'old age' (or perhaps I've always been like this!) but I just wanted to squeeze and hug Kiki as she walked passed, I was so proud of her. Here's a few pictures I managed to get of her after the graduation. Hard to get some on stage, they always turn out blurry!

Her 5th grade teacher, Mrs Mossell.

with the Assistant Principal

and one of her bff's, Eden :-)

and at home with her Diploma. I bought the flowers and balloon to take to the graduation, like many parents did. Kristen graduated with Honors - a straight A student. We're so proud of her.

Weekend In Rosanky!!

I can't believe I posted those last pictures a week ago already, and here we are with the first week of June nearly over! How do the days go so fast? Last weekend we went to a place called Rosanky, TX with our neighbors. We stayed in a friend of a friends house... (the friend being our neighbor, and his friend is his bff who has a 'weekend' house in the country! Rosanky is about an hour from us, I've never heard of it before but it sure was pretty.  Here's a few photos from the weekend.

I shot a real gun for the very first time. Two of our neighbors are police officers so we were all briefed in gun safety :-)  I shot a 22 rifle, and Jason's small pistol.

Gotta get some practice in, incase those coyotes come after my chickens!!!!!!!!!

Things are getting crazy busy around here, so that's all I have time to post today. Will update more on the move next time!
