‘Girls Night’ on Friday was so much fun. We gathered at Cheryl’s to enjoy each others company and I took along the ‘fixins’ for a Christmas Cocktail (as seen here by Sandra Lee, or watch her video on how to make this and her snowtini HERE).
Here’s mine I made.. . it’s a little pear juice, a little Pom juice, fresh pomegranate seeds and champagne :-) I was also feeling rather decadent and took along some caviar!
It’s not to everyone’s taste, but I LOVE it! One of Cheryl’s friends tried it and liked it, one of our other friends tried it and didn’t – it was too ‘fishy and salty’ for her. That doesn’t sound appealing at all does it “fishy and salty!”. What about you? Have you ever tried caviar – did you like it? Surely it’s not just the rich and famous that eat it?
Here’s me munching on caviar :-)
So, on to the finishing touches! Last week I did what a few bloggy friends had mentioned . . . I went along to my local Lowes store and asked if I could have some ‘free’ Christmas tree clippings. This is what I got . . . .
I’m sure I could have picked up more, but I didn’t want to look greedy, and this was all pretty heavy too.
So THIS . . .
went to looking like THIS . . . .
See the difference, it looks much fuller now with the greenery hanging over the white mantle. And I stuck some fresh greenery at the back too.
I also used some of the greenery to make these, one for each column.
I had quite a bit left over so I put it outside at the front door.
Other finishing touches . . . I added my little Boyds Bears to the Christmas tree area in my bedroom,
and using what I had I cleared up the dresser, added a flower arrangement (that usually sits elsewhere in the house) and a lamp and some photos.
It all looks wonderfully cozy at night.
And lastly, I added a tray to my bed. One of my ‘snail mail’ pals sent me some sweet goodies last week . . .
See the cute little pillow above with the little dancing girl fabric, she made that for me, and also sent the Victoria magazine and some handmade stamped cards, which are adorable :-) Thank you Carrie.
So, that’s it for today. The countdown has started here, only one more week left at school! How’s the Christmas preparations going for you all?

Hi Denise!
Looks like your drinks and appetizer night was really fun :) You and your buddy Cheryl always have a good time! I love it!
As far as caviar, I've never tried it. (I've never tried sushi either... I must be boring!!)
I like what you did with the tree trimmings...wow, it all looks great!
Have a happy Monday :)
I love your mantle-great idea! Sounds like you have lots of fun girls nights : )
This sure looks like you had so much fun, Den. I like fishy and salty and I have tried caviar in Russia and I like it. Your Christmas decor is beautiful!...Christine
Looks so festive in your house
Your party looked like so much fun! I have tried caviar a few times and I'm sort of up in the air about it.
It looks like you are winding up your decorating...I love the fresh evergreen, especially on your columns.
Have a great week, Den!
XO,
Jane

Oh, Denise, how wonderful! It all looks just beautiful. And yes, I do like caviar. . . come on over and visit with me; we'll have cocktails and caviar and whatever else your little heart desires!
I got the most beautiful Christmas card and a sweet note in the mail! Aren't you just the most wonderful bloggy friend? I'd so love to meet you in "real" life!!
Would have love to have joined in on the cocktail fun but I would have passed on the caviar. The pine branches do add to your mantle. Very pretty. Your house looks very Christmas-y! And its so cold here I am wearing my cowl neck every day. I love it!
What a great idea with the Christmas tree clippings. I bet they also smell awesome! There is nothing like that fresh pine smell. I'm actually thinking maybe I'd like to try a fresh tree next year just to be transported back to my childhood with that wonderful smell of fresh pine. Hope your Mam continues to do well.
Luv ya. xx
Hi Denise! Your girl's night always sounds like great fun! I think I mentioned that I like a pomegranate Margarita for the holidays. I've had caviar and can take it or leave it, I I do love sushi, tho, so it's not because it's fishy. The mantle looks great and I'm going to get some evergreens for ours at some point. Just too many new things this year so will hope for some good after Xmas sales. I actually kind of like the stocking clips. The other hangers can be so large and take up the whole mantle so they are nice and unobtrusive. Enjoy your holiday after this last school week! (((Hugz)))
*Sniff sniff* ... I can smell the wonderful, fresh greenery that you added to your garland! I need to do this, as well. And, the tray on your bed really makes it look like a bed and breakfast in there. Love it. Have a great night, Becca
Denise I adore the pretty tray idea. It all looks gorgeous at your home this season. Enjoy!
Thank you for the Christmas card. You did a nice job on it. Love it!
Don't you just love girls night out? I do! Your home with the added fresh greenery was the perfect touch! Enjoy.
Everything is so pretty and festive. You have really done a great job with all your decor. I know that Kristin is enjoying everything and we have one more day before we get a little vacation, you & me:)
Have a good weekend.
