Time for the annual Gingerbread House

For the past few years Kristen and I have decorated a Gingerbread House on the last day of school. I had always wanted to decorate one but when she was little I just never seemed to get around to buying one.

So, today is the last day of school :-) I went to Kristen’s school at lunch time for their ‘winter party’. It’s not really a party, the kids just get to do a couple of fun things after lunch and then either carry on with classes or if you’re lucky and your mom is there, you can get signed out and go home for the day!  The kids made marshmallow snowmen today, made a Christmas ornament and did a book exchange. As soon as we got home we got out our gingerbread house (of course I buy one, but one of these years I’m gonna make my own, really I am!)

First Kristen frosts the top then adds some candy,

I always make extra icing, there’s never enough in the box you buy.

And finally the finished house.

And yay it’s the weekend. Not only the weekend, but no school for two whole weeks! And in between that time we have Christmas Eve festivities with the inlaws, Santa comes and a New Years Eve Bash – I can’t wait :-)

So fun! We used to make gingerbread houses too when the kids were little. Yours turned out so well. Must be because of your helper. :)
Merry Christmas!

love this as a tradition. Yours turned out beautifully.

I made three in total this year, and it was a lot of hard work, but I wanted to try out two different recipes to the one I normally make.

One day, I'll make them slowly so I can try to make them look pretty and neat. Mine are always such a mess!!! I made the third one so Humbug and Bill could decorate it, and it was also so Humbug could eat the sweeties each day :o)

Wanted to say thank you for your card. It's lovely, and arrived on Friday.

I haven't sent out any, which is terrible. Haven't even made them yet, it's my job for this afternoon. After I've cooked roast lamb and all that goes with it.
We're covered in snow (pics on raindy day), but I think the North have a lot more than us, it's knee deep in some places, so I hope your family and mam are ok.

Have a lovely Sunday

Very nice candy house Denise. I have never tried to make one before. She did great with it.

I'm sure I will keep on blogging. I would have much more to blog about if we move but that won't be until next fall at the earliest. I look to buy something or change something at home just so I can blog about it. That is getting quite silly. I seem to get the same comments over and over again. That is why I feel like I am boring my blog readers lately. I wish I could blog about more personal topics but I promised my hubby I would not due to OPSEC. (Operations Security) I may just post way less often. Like once a week or so. Thank you for all of your kindness and support this past year. You're a true friend to me and I appreciate it very much.

Enjoy the holiday with your family. I'll post again after the new year. ~Melissa :)
