Today not only marks the start of Spring, but also the Spring Reading Thing over at Callapidder Days. I joined in with the last reading challenge back in the Fall last year and thought I would join in again, more for my own enjoyment than anything else, I love books but sometimes don't get to read as many as I would like. This challenge helps me to at least try! And I also like to visit other blogs and see what everyone else is reading.
Because I'm in a Book Club I know for certain I will be reading 3 books between now and June (that is when the challenge ends).I've thought about what other books I might like to read over the next few months and I've made a list for myself which I'm sharing here. I haven't gone crazy, as much as I would love to read more I am being realistic here.... Spring marks the start of longer days, lighter nights, garden work, growing veggies, and well to be honest, less time wanting to even open up the pages of a book, but here's my list anyway. If you love to read, hop on over to Katrina's blog and join in the fun. And leave a comment here so I can come visit you and read about what you're reading ;-)

Atonement by Ian McEwan - this is book club pick for April. I know there's a movie out too which I was told recently was very depressing! Not sure how I will like the book.

The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein - sounds like a much lighter read. May's book club pick

The Lace Reader by Brunonia Barry - Book club pick for June.

Made From Scratch, A Memoir by Sandra Lee - I started reading this a few weeks ago before I went home to England. It has since taken a back seat to other things, but I would really like to finish it off.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen - seen the movie many times, and wanted to read the book. I won this in a bloggy giveaway and have started reading a little each night. Hope to finish it for the challenge too.

Magic Tree House series - hoping to read a few of these with Kristen over the next few weeks. We are trying to read them in order and #9 is next 'Dolphins at Daybreak'.

and finally... I've heard so much about Francine Rivers but never read one of her books. I've heard this one in particular is REALLY good, so I'm going to challenge myself to read it before the end of June.
Today hardly feels like the first day of Spring. We had a thunderstorm during the night, the yard looks like it has a pond in it, we had so much rain, it's still very windy out there and cold. Much different to the lovely weather we had all week, but a great day to stay in and, yes you guessed it . . . READ :-)

Spring coupled with books, books and more books. My idea of a little slice of heaven!
I would like to mention that I have read every book Ian McEwan has written. He's one of my favorite authors. Atonement is a beautifully written book.
Have a wonderful weekend!
xo
Atonement is pretty depressing but I still think it's a good read. Want to read Redeeming Love, too. Maybe I should add it to my list.
Enjoy your Spring reading! :-)
I've heard the Magic Tree House books are good. Happy reading this spring.
Happy 1st Day of Spring! Lots of great book choices...happy reading! *Hugs* ~Liz
Thanks for stopping by earlier. I'm a big fiber fiction fan too! I may need to add The Art of Racing in the Rain to my list. I've heard goo things about it. Happy Reading!
The Art of Racing in the Rain was incredible. It was a relatively quick read that had me alternately laughing and crying in spots. I had really looked forward to reading The Lace Reader. It was good but slow-moving and long - really a summer book for times when you have the time to let the book take over your day.
Hi Denise. I love to see what others are reading. Some of the best books I've read have been recommended by other bloggers. I just got a book from the library...can't remember what it's called right now but it's by the same author as The Ya Ya Sisterhood. Should be a good one.
I did enjoy the movie version of P&P much more, too, but I am glad I read it. LOVED Redeeming Love!
Redeeming Love is one of my all time favorite books. All of Francine's books are awesome. Hope you enjoy it.
What a great list! I know i love these challenges to help me stay motivated. There are so many things to do in the Spring its hard to spend time reading.
It's snowing in Tyler, of all mind-blowing things. I have told myself I will be reading more books and less magazines. Well, maybe just more books and the same magazines! Love to read!

Hi Denise,
I didn't know Sandra Lee had a book out, thanks for that tip! I'm fascinated by her.
Thanks for your visit! Looking forward to reading your blog.
Cheers, Andrea
I also have The Art of Dancing in the Rain. I should read it when you do.
You have a lot to read but I know how it is with the longer days and warmer weather.
Happy Spring, Denise! Book clubs are fun. It's nice to share about what you've read and it deepens your understanding of the book... if it is deep, that is. ;) I'm sure you're instilling a love of reading in Kristen, too, which is great!
Ryan wanted to sleep in his crib so Jessica's not pushing it. Today, Jacob is supposed to be trying his 1st taste of cereal. Look forward to hearing how that went. He's been very interested lately in what others are eating. Enjoy the week ahead! (((Hugz)))
you are going to be busy! Such a long list would scare me, I'm lucky if I get to read a magazine throughout the course of a day! ;o)
Have a lovely start to the week. Happy Reading! xx
I saw the movie for Atonement and liked it. Never read the book, though. And I love Pride and Prejudice. Have a great spring reading!
redeeming love is one of my favorite books. EVER. i cried and cried when i finished it! (but the good, soul-cleansing kind)
good luck!
Looks good, Denise! I have The Art of Racing in the Rain on my bookshelf, but haven't read it yet. And I read Pride and Prejudice for the first time recently -- very good!
Enjoy your spring reading -- hope you fit in some enjoyable reads in the midst of all the other activities that come along with spring!
I read the Lace Reader last year and found it really interesting. Hope you have good luck with your challenge.
I absolutely LOVED Redeeming Love. In my top 10 books of all time. I did not care for Atonement and actually found the movie to be better than the book (which I rarely ever say because it's rarely ever true). I read Art of Racing and thought it was okay. Didn't love it. I will continue to reread Pride and Prejudice every few years. Does it get any better than that one? My daughter read every Magic Tree House and loved them all. I like that they teach history. I may add The Lace Reader to my list. Sounds interesting. Have fun with your list.
