I totally forgot to watch the Oscars last night! I wanted to see all the fancy dresses on the red carpet. After church I had my inlaws over for lunch. I made pot roast in the slow cooker. Got up at 6.45am to put it in so it would have plenty of time to cook and I wouldn't have to spend hours in the kitchen when we got back from church. I also made 'Heather's Make Ahead' potatoes. This is a recipe that my friend Heather gave me years ago which I swear by now. I make it at Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter - whenever we are having mashed potatoes really. What's great about it is I can make it the night before, wash up the pan and clear up all the peelings, and the next day I just need to pop the casserole dish in the oven to reheat. I also made Yorkshire puddings! They didn't rise very much, but they tasted good.
For dessert I made a Key Lime Pie (thank you Paula Deen) for Jason. SMALL confession to make - I've only been married 11 years and did not know this was one of my hubby's favorite desserts! When he mentioned it this week (while I was asking what should I make for dessert on Sunday) I knew I had to find a recipe and try to make one. Found Paula Deen's recipe on Foodnetwork.com with a huge meringue topping! I forgot to take a picture of the whole pie this weekend, but I took a slice out of the fridge this morning to show you.

HUGE confession to make - this did not go back in the fridge. . . . . . . . I ate it for breakfast! And that's all I'm gonna say about that.

Now that's my kind of breakfast. And hey, it contained fruit and eggs - sounds good to me!
I want pie for Breakie too!! Sounds like you had a great weekend! I LOVE Yorkshire pudding... aahhh reminds me of my Mom!
Hope you're doing well. It's been forever since we've "talked"... I miss ya Girlfriend!!
Hugs xo
You look like you're a good cook, Denise! And the way I see it, key lime pie is citrus and we all know OJ is citrus and a breakfast drink and meringue is made from eggs so it defintely qualifies as a breakfast food! ;) Have a great wek ahead! (((Hugz)))
Ha ha! Just noticed that Julie and I think alike! LOL!
ha ha ha! that's exactly the kind of thing that I do, snaffle something bad for breakfast! Looks very nice, by the way.
So glad you got to add graphics again. And, love the background in here! ;o)
have a fab day xxxx
Hi Denise. Your pie looks so pretty. I'm glad you enjoyed it :) I hate cooking. I hope my son moves back home after he completes his culinary degree so he can cook for me. If the recipe has more than a few ingredients or if there are more than a few steps, forget it!
Have a great week sweetie! Big hugs!!
Hi Denise! we're warm today here, too. Too bad we didn't have this weather on Sunday for the Oscars. No word yet from Justin in the house. (((Hugz)))
I don't think we are much behind you. We see the top 10 boys tonight (Wed) and then the top 10 girls tomorrow night (Thurs). We usually get Idol on Wednesday & Thursday nights. We just had an extra show though last Sunday where the first of the 24 finalists were eliminated. BTW just to explain the time difference I think we are about 17 hours ahead of Texas. We are GMT+10 here in Sydney.
Is it pretty easy to use Blogspot? I'm thinking of trying it. is it hard to add backgrounds?
Have a great night. Big (((hugs)))
Hi Denise, you like to cook so do you watch the food channels all all. I've started watching Rachel Ray at 11am on channel 4 ABC I think. She makes it look like such fun and so easy. I'm just messed up so badly and then hate the big mess I have to clean up. lol. I can see you enjoying those types of shows. I've just started to. Who knows. Idon't blame you for not putting that pie back. lol.. I love my new computer. Never had one that was so fancy and up to date with everything. Wonder if I'll ever learn how to use all the bells and whistles it has. :o) Sending lots of love and ~hugs~
hello, just saw your comments.
Well, yes, I think it is just the shock that England can have earthquakes, though why everyone are so surprised I really don't know. It's because we are less likely to have them, but that doesn't mean we can't have them, and I think that's what people don't realise.
I saw my Mum in the supermarket and she said she didn't feel a thing. I only noticed it so strongly because I was awake. Had I been asleep and it had woken me up, then I might not have realised what it was and thought I was dreaming. Hope your family were all ok and didn't suffer any damage to their homes.
thanks for your email! :O)
