Well that’s another Summer break over, I wish it signified the end of the summer heat but it doesn’t. Today was 104 degrees! Right now it is 6.57pm and it’s still 100 outside :-( Tomorrow will be 102.
Today was the first day back at school, but for us (or should I say for Kristen) it also meant first day at a new elementary school. I mentioned in an earlier post (way back at the beginning of Summer) why we had to change schools but I still had friends on Facebook asking me why. So I’ll just say again that for the past few years Kristen has been going to the school she started Kinder in, that being the one we lived near before we moved to this house. When we moved 3 years ago to this house I just kept filling in a transfer form to keep her at the other school so she could be with her friends. This year our transfer request (and 200 others) were all denied by her school because they were full. So this year we have to start at the school we are correctly zoned to.
All that being said I was a little apprehensive about today as Kristen wasn’t happy about changing schools. Thankfully her day went well :-)
I took pictures this morning, just like I do every year on the first day back. I was disappointed to see that most of them turned out blurry! I have no idea why, it was light enough outside, I didn’t use a flash because I didn’t think I needed one. I think I got 2 clear pictures out of at least a dozen. . . so annoying.
She wasn’t overly excited when I picked her up, but at least there wasn’t any tears either. She said she didn’t see one kid that she recognized! We were hoping that some others from her school might have had to change schools too, but if they did it appears they aren’t in the same grade as her. Oh well, I’m sure she’ll make new friends in no time at all. She’s like her Momma and pretty social (read ‘chatty’) ;-)
I’ll be back tomorrow with a post about my menu plan and meals. Just wanted to share our ‘first day back’ with you all.

I will be praying for some friends for her soon! :) Carla
She is a cutie - I really hope she adjusts well and fast!
Ahh. Poor thing. I hope everything went ok for her. Looking forward to hearing how it went.
It is nerve wracking starting a new school, but like you say, at least there were no tears. That's a very good sign.
She looks lovely. When Little One starts school next year, she'll have to wear a uniform. I'm not looking forward to telling her she's got to wear the same thing every day!
Will be back later. xx
My daughter lives in the Cedar Park area of Austin and she's looking forward to cooler days. Thank goodness our days here in upstate NY has gotten much cooler.
Kristen is adorable and I'm sure she'll make new friends fast. My grandson text me today to wish him well as he started school also. He's a senior (I can't believe it LOL!) in Leander High.
Have a great beginning of the week. ;-}
Your daughter looks so sweet preparing for her first day at school!
I just know she will make friends soon. My son's started a new school this year too. My middle son, who is 16 spent the first week of school eating lunch in his car. He said that no other kids would talk to him during lunch time and he just couldn't bear to sit at a table by himself. Talk about gut wrenching. I don't care that he is almost 17 years old, I was ready to march right up to that school and talk to someone. Hubby discouraged me! Now, 3 weeks into school he has made quite a few friends and spends too much time with them and not enough time doing homework!!
I will pray for you and your daughter. :o)
Fondly,
Ann

How cute your daughter is and I will be praying that she makes some new friends real soon.
Hope you are well and I am sorry but have been missing so much lately. So busy and now trying to catch up!
Have a great day.

Hi Denise! I'm sure Kristen will come home very soon, chattering away about a new friend. Great photos! I love her preschool pic in the prior post. What a cutie!!
I always love reading about your menu & shopping ect. I really need to do this, as we spend a fortune on food!
Love the new look for your front patio. I can see lots of wonderful early mornings & evenings out there.
How I wish we would have gotten the rain that you got. It is 'so' hot here! Hurry up fall!! Sending you big hugs Denise!!
My son is going through the same thing (he is also one of the transfers from your daughter's school who got booted this year). We expected to see some other transfers as well, but nope. It is so hard isn't it? I know they will both make friends soon :)

I love her outfit. She looks adorable. I'm sure the friends will come soon. Moving is always a bit of a challenge, no matter our age or the distance moved.
Look at her! She's such a darling girl! I hope her new school turns out to be a great fit for her.
Awww.... she looks too cute!!! Happy new school year!!!
