Sunday Musings . . . . August 8th

The first week of August already over :-) I hope the rest of the month goes as quickly, or at least the heat goes away! Every day this week was over 100 degrees, it's not nice.

Kristen had her first riding lesson this week, but other than that we haven't done anything but go round to the pool a few times. It's the only way we can get outside and stay cool, otherwise we just stay indoors.

It was Jason's birthday on Thursday. He took the day off work and we went out for a quick bite to eat to Wendy's (gotta stick to our budget...they have a great 'dollar menu' there) :-) Later in the afternoon Kristen and I baked him a cake, and we had that and pizza for dinner.

Here's a few more pictures of birthday boy and his #1 fans . . . .

and birthday kisses from Boo!

We're off to a birthday party at Chuck E Cheese today (oh yeah, I can't wait!) and Jason is flying off to Denver to teach a course. He'll be back tomorrow night though. I will be planning my menu later, did really well sticking to it this past week, and I'll share with you what we thought of the recipes. Have a wonderful Sunday.

Happy Birthday to you husband. Thursday was my birthday too!
I enjoyed seeing your horseback riding post. Reminded me so much of when my daughter took lessons. And great photos of the birthday and the riding lessons too.

Very nice Happy Birthday pictures! I think you are doing great sticking to your budget. I like the way the fast food places are creating dollar menu's. Takes the heat out of the kitchen and doesn't break the bank!

Have a great week, Den!

Hi Denise! I'm all caught up here now. I'm sorry that with everything going on, it's been difficult to stop in. My goal is to try to get more into a normal mode again this week.

Happy birthday to Jason! I'm so glad that you carried your 'frugality' over into his day too. You are inspiring!

I loved the pictures of Kristen's first riding lesson. She looked like a pro, but so small upon that huge 'beast' (as you put it). :-)

I want to sit down later & do some menu planning (see, I told you that you inspire me, & I mean that!). Hope you have a lovely week Denise. Thank you for your friendship. Love you

Hope your husband had a great birthday. It is really hot here too. I can't wait for the crisp, cool days of fall. Can't wait to see what is on the menu this week. Carla

Jason's cake looked YUMMY and I'm glad you were able to celebrate AND keep your budget! How long is he in Denver? Got time for a phone call this week??

Hope you've got your feet up and enjoying a nice glass of wine while you knit tonight! I'm around on MSN these days if you're lonely and want to chat!

Love ya xo

Oh my goodness how cute is Boo licking your hubby on the chin. I am just laughing at that photo for some reason. I really love it!

What a special birthday party and yummy looking cake! I didn't get a cake this year. I ate a huge piece of Coca Cola cake at Cracker Barrel last week though. Does that count? That stuff is soooo sweet.

Have a great week Denise.

PS I'm glad you understand about being far away from family. It is too tough for words to even explain the feeling sometimes.
