Making a start . . .

I know I said I don’t usually put the Christmas tree up until the day after Thanksgiving, but that doesn’t mean I can’t (or don’t) start pulling other Christmas decor out before then ;-)

Yesterday I decided I’d like to add a ‘splash of Christmas’ to our bedrooms. I don’t always do this, but I’d like to. It’s all a matter of not having enough decorations (if you can believe that) and trying to justify to Jason why I need more when there are at least 6 or 7 boxes in the garage stuffed with the stuff!  Jason wouldn’t really mind if I went and bought more stuff, he knows I wouldn’t go crazy mad and spend a whole lot. . .  indeed, how much CAN one spend at the Dollar Store (hmm, don’t answer that question").  Kristen and I went to the $$ store and to Hobby Lobby yesterday.  I’ve only taken pictures of our room so far – wanna take a peek inside?

Imagine it’s snowing outside, and a fire is crackling somewhere in the house – chestnuts are roasting . . . ok, not really, I’ve never roasted a chestnut in my life! But doesn’t it look cozy? I love it so far.

DSCF3766 I need more lights so I can put them on these little trees too, and I will get my Christmas Boyds Bears out next week and sit them under the trees.

DSCF3770 Did you notice the pillows were all  over the place? I’d stood on the bed to try and grab the extension cord and forgot to straighten them back up!

 DSCF3775 DSCF3784

Dollar Store ribbon! I watched a Youtube video on how to make a bow. I kinda knew how but was never happy with how they turned out. This one I was happy with :-)

DSCF3781

Dollar Store wreaths too for above the lamps. Their wreaths are much thinner than in previous years so I bought an extra garland of greenery to add to it, and a poinsettia flower to pin on (also from the $ store).

My Christmas reading has started :-) I love going to bed early and reading Christmas fiction. Right now I’m reading The Christmas Clock by Kat Martin.

I still have the bottom of the room to finish, where the dresser is, so I haven’t taken pictures of that yet, nor have I taken pictures of Kristen’s room. We are creating a ‘Winter Wonderland’ look in her Wolf Den ;-)  Pictures coming soon!

Hi Denise! You thought 'you' had missed lots of posts??? I have been here forever reading, but so enjoying catching up. How did I miss so much??? I 'love' your Christmas bedroom! So pretty. As always, you did a great job.

Love your friend Cheryl's wall mural. I think I have seen that one at a wall mural place I have visited online. It turned out awesome!

I love your teacup birdfeeders - especially the poppy one. You are so talented Denise, & come up with the neatest ideas. Is Kristen 'crafty'?

There was so much more that I wanted to comment on, but don't want to write a book for you to read. I am so glad that I am caught up now, & look forward to all your holiday posts (which btw - your Thanksgiving table setting is beautiful!). Sending you big hugs Denise. Have a wonderful week!

Hi Denise! Your bedroom looks festive! I love your little "Always Kiss Me Goodnight" stencil/decal. Sweet! My first thought was Cooper knocking all that over if I tried to put things by me bed! ;) As it is, I'm taking my Pottery Barn rugs off the floor! ;) Enjoy the holiday week ahead! (((Hugz)))

it all looks very festive! I'm still not in the mood to even put out the outdoor lights yet. Normally I've put them out and tested them, ready for switchinn on on the 1st December. I'm going to have to brave the sleety rainy weather later on this week and start, or it'll never get done. Just not in the mood.

I always decorate the bedrooms and upstairs landing. not as much as you have done there, just a couple of trees. This year I made a silver tinsel tree, because I wanted something that look vintage and was narrow. Nothing in the shops, so I did it myself.

Have a lovely Monday, and if I don't stop by before it, have a very happy Thanksgiving and happy birthday to K :o)

You must really be in the mood for Christmas!! We are traveling to the Atlanta area for the holiday this year to meet our future daughter-in-law's family. I'm thinking about scaling back on my decorating because we won't be home. And yet.... Have you ever traveled back to England for the holidays and scaled back your decorating???

Hi Denise, your room looks so cozy! I started decorating downstairs and I will post pictures too when I am done. What does your hubby think. You would not believe how many boxes of Christmas boxes I have. Maybe around 30. I have a huge village and tons of snowmen and more. I am giving Andrew a lot of things. That is not even my ornament! :)

I LOVE your room! I think it looks great. I've never done our bedroom either, but boy does yours look nice. I LOVE the little trees! Everything looks so nice :)

I bet Kristen's room will be cute too. We are going to put a little tree up in Jeven's room. I let her pick out whatever color she wanted and she picked pink, turqoise and lime green. I found some cute, inexpensive decorations at Kirkland's and also Walmart with those exact colors! I can't wait to decorate in a few days! Yipeee :)
