Good Monday morning :-) I hope you all enjoyed your weekend, I know we did. On Saturday I took Kristen round to the pool party our neighbor was having for their little one yr old. I actually took Connor too as his mom was still sewing a 'gift' for the birthday boy! There were mainly friends of the couple and grandparents there and a few other little 1 yr old babies. It was fun for the kids, not so much for me.... it's difficult when you don't know anyone there, I ended up just sitting keeping an eye on the kids for the whole two hours and smiling politely when I would be asked "are you ok"!
After 2 hours at the pool we went home to get dry, then I took Kristen back over to our neighbors. Everyone was out in the back which was pretty uncomfortable at times because of the heat, but they had big fans blowing with misters on them and they had a canopy up so we had some shade. And eventually my friend Cheryl came over along with her Mom and Dad. Jason being the anti-social guy that he is wouldn't even come over! It turned out to be a pretty nice night and eventually we got to chatting with the other guests too.I didn't take many pictures I'm afraid, and the ones I did take I kept catching the back of the kids heads as they played in the pool!
Yesterday I went to church on my own. I decided because I was up in time I would leave for the early service. I leave at 8.45am and Kristen was only just then getting up so I said she could stay home. When I got home a was surfing around on blogs and came across a great website for Weight Watchers recipes. I don't think I've mentioned that in order to try and lose my stubborn 10lbs I thought I would try WW (or did I mention that?). Anyway, I'm learning to count points and am more aware of how many 'points' are in the foods I eat, and I'm often looking for new recipes I can try for dinner. I'll share with you tomorrow on my 'Tempt My Tummy' post what I was cooking up this weekend ;-)
Today will be a day of catching up with laundry and cleaning up the messy kitchen. All that cooking yesterday and I just didn't get on top of cleaning up all the dishes. The dishwasher needs emptying so I can fill it back up with dirty dishes!
What are your plans for today?

I don't enjoy situations like that, when you don't know anyone and end up sitting on your own :O(
At least all the kids had fun.
Yesterday was fine, thanks for asking :O) MIL was in good spirits, but I got the impression that she felt like a bit of a spare part. she's in for an op today, which is why she's staying at SIL's for a while, and why the SIL thought it would be nice for us to visit, so she could see Humbug and take her mind off the today. Little one couldn't wait to get in the pool, and I got some good photos, which I will have to show. Her face is a delight. When I got her out to dry her though she was shaking, even though the sun had come out! Poor little girl. I hope it helped MIL, but I'm not sure, she seemed almost awkward at times. It's not the same as being at home is it?
Thanks for the comment over at CR. Yes, it did feel a bit brave doing the mantelpiece. It's a little bit blotchy in places, but it just adds to the shabby chic look! :O) At least we give it a go.
Been doing more painting today. I've made a start on the kitchen chairs, they're looking much better. A bit of finishing off tomorrow and then that's it, no more painting for a while - I've nothing left to paint!
Have a lovely Monday. Looking forward to your TMTT post.
:O)

Glad you had a good weekend, it's difficult not to know anyone but it's also how you make more friends, your night sounds lovely. Good luck with WW. Hugs
I also hate those kinds of social situations where I don't know anyone! I'm glad it turned out to be a nice night though. Kristen looks so big by the pool!
How wonderful to have homemade soup made using your home grown veggies! I love butternut squash soup. I bought one yesterday in fact with soup in mind. I may have to try your recipe.
Hope you are having a lovely start to the week!
Love & hugs xx
Just working and wishing I was back at home. I don't do Mondays very well ;)
Hi Denise!
Sorry you didn't really know anyone at the bd party. But it sounds like it was nice for kids. I don't like being in those type of situations where I don't know most of the people.
Great pic of Kristen by the pool, she is so cute. :)
Hope your day is going well!
Love you
xx

Hi Denise! Sorry about the lifeguard duty but I'm sure you were ever vigilant. I like that pool- looks like they have some cool water spouting fountain. Hope you have a great week ahead! (((Hugz)))
Sounds like you had a rather busy kind of weekend. I hate awkward situations where I don't know anyone. I get extremely nervous. I am glad it turned out good though. My husband and I joke all the time we don't know how we dirty so many dishes. The dishwasher is always full and the sink??? I think they breed in the there....
Denise, I had to come back and tell you, we would make horrible friends. We sound way too much alike! I don't like being at places I don't know anyone and I can't make a decision to save my life either. I have the waiter at restaurants chose my dinner. LOL
