Our anniversary isn't for another two months.... it's December 19th to be exact (we were married one week before Christmas in Orange County, LA). This was a big deal for me, because we were living in England at the time and there I was 'jetting off' to Los Angeles to get married ;-)
For those who don't know, my hubby is from CA, and I'm from England.... we met in 1995 when my then 'sweet young' hubby (he was only 24 when I met him, and I was 31!) was in the USAF stationed at
RAF Mildenhall in Suffolk. We'll have been married 13 years this December!
Anyway, for Tablescape Thursday this week I decided to set the table out on our upstairs balcony with our anniversary in mind (kind of a practice run for later) ;-) I know there will be a lot of opportunities for 'Fall-scapes' over the next few weeks so I thought I'd do this one now while the weather outside is still mild enough.

Let me just say, it's rather tricky taking pictures outside when you're under shade and you can't really turn a light on! I tried my best, and hopefully I got some good snap shots to give you a little taste of what our 'romantic dinner for two' will look like. You can click on the photos to get a closer look.

First of all, I used my VERY best china today. Actually, it's the only china I own! It is from Mikasa, called
Palatial Gold. I bought the whole set just after we were married, I think with wedding gift money (if I remember correctly).

I started with a cream tablecloth, used my gold chargers and just layered the plates. Added teacups and saucers (for when we finish our meal with a delicious cup of coffee). Placed the silverware, and the champagne glasses.

White napkins, with my pearls wrapped around them for napkin rings - simple and elegant.

The figurine is
Lennox and was our wedding cake topper. It was a gift from my very sweet mother-in-law. It is one of my most treasured possessions. Gosh, have you been to their website at all? I just looked at it and oh, there are so many pretty things I could want! I may have to request their catalog!

I was hoping to take some photos later as it got darker so I could light the candles and put the balcony 'butterfly' lights on. But wouldn't you know it, big grey clouds started to descend and the wind picked up... I had to bring everything inside incase things got blown over and broken. Oh well, perhaps next time.
Thanks for stopping by. For more great tablescapes visit Susan at
Between Naps on the Porch. It's where I'm headed now ;-)

I love the gold rimmed dishes and the Lennox Wedding cake topper is soooooo pretty. Congratulations a little early. You have set such a gorgeous tablescape. I just love it all. Hugs, Marty
What a beautifully romantic table setting, Denise! Combining the dark metal candlesticks with the soft green ivy & then placing your cake topper nearby was just brilliant. I also think it was very thoughtful to tuck in a little photo of the two of you on your wedding day.
Using pearls as napkin rings was really thinking out of the box...may I benchmark you? (that means COPY!) LOL
I can *hear* your lovely English accent through you postings & very much enjoyed my first visit to your blog. Thanks for sharing your lovely ideas & "Happy Anniversary!" on Dec. 19th.
