Who doesn't like to see 'before' and 'after' pics? I know I love to, so I thought I would share some of mine with you today. I've been surfing some great blogs lately and many of them share some great designer ideas. Recently I came across Traci's blog at
Beneath My Heart. The first post of hers I saw was
THIS ONE, where she took the time to share with her readers/friends how to make a
Ballard inspired shelf! I've been a follower of her lovely blog every since.
Oh my gosh, I SO want to make these shelves. From all the instructions Traci gives, I just know I could do this. I might need a little help with the miter saw, but I know I could do it ;-) Until I decide to get the wood though, I remembered two little shelves I had stored in the spare room upstairs. They are similar to Traci's shelves, just a little smaller.

I thought if I painted them black they might look nice above the toilet in the downstairs 'powder room'. Here's the wall in all it's bare glory. The only thing I had here was a fake green planter on the top of the toilet (that I had removed before I took this pic).

So, I painted the shelves and had Jason hang one of them. I realized after he put the first one up that I didn't really need them both.

What do you think? I got the 'S' from Hobby Lobby, 50% off last week (just $5) and the finial type thingy at Kohl's for just $5. Hmmm? Still needed a little something to me. Kohl's also had a great sale on some 'word art' so I grabbed a tube for $5.99, and I bought a little tile from Kohl's while I was there . . . .

Ahhh, much better. What do you think? And as you can see I added a touch of 'Fall' too :-)

NICE bathroom addtions!!!
I like what you've done there. The 'S' and the words are totally up my street. (I showed some new ceramic letters in the bathroom on my craft diary last week)
It all looks really nice, very cosy and homely.
Fabulous!

That is the perfect touch. Love it.
Thank you for posting to the party.

Looks great D... and that word art matches WHERE you put it too... with all the splashing about in the bathroom ;-)
Great job! xo
Denise,
The shelves are fabulous! I think they are perfect for that space. The wall saying is just perfect for the bathroom too. It sounds like you got some great deals at HL and Kohl's. Two of my favorite places! :)
Thanks so much for linking to my blog. I'm glad the tutorial was helpful. I am wanting to make something else and post about it. I had a ball. I want to use my husband's power tools some more, but he's not liking the idea. :)
Blessings to you!
Traci
You go girl!! That looks great. Prettiest potty room I have ever seen ;-)!!!
Wow Denise, you're on a roll girl! That shelf looks awesome and I love the black. I actually recently had a black painting frenzy and so love the results. The "S" looks terrific too, did you paint it or was it already gold?
I'm off to shop for my sister's birthday...decisions...decisions...
Hope you enjoy your evening sweets. luv ya xxx

I'm Tracis sister at Beneath my Heart and can I just say WOW! You did an amazing job on that shelf. I'm so glad Traci saw it and commented on it. I was certainly going to tell her. You bathroom looks beautiful!
Thanks for stopping by my blog and entering my give away.
I so want to do some things at home but because of my Moms illness Im not home enough right now. (Because my kids are older I'm staying with Mom and Dad the most)Me and Traci have been thinking of having a blog together and post about some of our differences. Traci likes the shelf and makes it. If I liked it I'd just buy it:)HaHa
Hi Denise cute decorating. I love fall!!
I like what you did for your bathroom it really dressed it up with the word art and Love the Pumpkin touch. I have two similar pumpkins, one green and a larger Orange one.
I had made some crystal wine charms that got featured in a magazine. It was pretty exciting for me!!!

It was Women's World but still that's something!
They found me online and asked me if they could feature my products. It brought me a lot of business. I was so excited for the free advertisement and it was just like wow! how did they find me out of all the things to pick.
Have a great week decorating!
OK --it finally came up--
Check out my post-you've been featured.
