I can't believe I did that!!!!!

This morning just as I was headed out the door to take Kristen to school I went in to the cupboard where I always keep my purse/bag and it wasn't there? I admit sometimes I don't always put it in the cupboard if I get busy when I get home, putting groceries away etc. Well I had to dash out anyway and think about looking for it after I got home. I got home 30 minutes later and still couldn't find my purse. Now I was starting to worry. The last I had it was at the grocery store on Saturday afternoon (after my trip to Goodwill) and I hated to think that I had done what I always say I hope never to do..... leave it on top of the cart!

By this time I was starting to feel really down, I had that awful feeling in the pit of my stomach, what if I had left it and it was taken? What if someone had used my credit card? What if.....
I decided to call the grocery store because I knew by this time the purse was not in the house nor was it in the back or the front of my car. And then........ relief! The girl told me after I described my purse that it was indeed there. Oh My LORD - THANK YOU! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I still can't believe I did that. It's one of my worst nightmares. I've done it once before years ago, but I realized as soon as I got home that I had left it on the cart, so I went dashing back to the store then (which happened to be Walmart) hoping and praying someone would have handed it in and not just picked it up and walked away with it. And thankfully then too, someone did just that and my purse was at customer service.

Today could have started out SO bad, but I am so thankful that it hasn't. It did mean I didn't go out for my morning walk today (I was just so sick to my stomach with worry I couldn't!), so I'm gonna jump off here, pop in a 'Walk Away The Pounds' dvd, then get started on cleaning this house.

Have a great Monday everyone, I know I will ;-)

Urgh! What a cruddy start to the day, but thankfully people are better than we often expect them to be.

In 1995 I was flying home to England, and had a flight to Chicago first. I had a cold and had taken some Robitussin, which knocked me out. I got off the plane and an hour later realized that I'd left my Franklin planner (hey, it was the 90's) on the plane under the seat with all of my credit cards in. Luckily I had my passport and alien card in my purse. It was not a good day. Luckily they tracked down the plane and it was still there jammed under the seat (doesn't say much for pre 9/11 security, does it) and they flew it back to Chicago and we picked it up on our way home from our trip.

It truly is the worst feeling though. Definitely a sick to your stomach moment.

Hope your day goes a lot better.

Having lost my purse once with ALL my ID (and a GC from my old boss inside) I can totally feel for you that horror you felt this morning. Was everything in there when you picked it up? Talk about God's hand of protection over it if so!

I'm glad you found it and are able to relax the rest of the day. Good to know there are still some Good Samaritans out there still ;-)

Hugs xo

Oh wow! I'm so glad it was found & not stolen! I don't put my purse in the cart anymore since someone stole one at the Winn Dixie I go to. It was pretty shocking as our little town has very low crime.
Glad all is well, hugs

Hi Denise! So glad your lost purse story had a happy ending! Lucky that someone honest kept it safe for you. I thought I was free today but Jacob is here while Jessica shops for a preschool. I usually blog when I have the chance but write and post my entries at night. Have a great week ahead! (((Hugz)))

Boy, I know you were sick when you thought about how long your purse had been missing. That was probably scarier than just leaving it and getting home and remembering that you left it. Leaving it for days would have put me over the edge. Glad that everything worked out okay.

How wonderful that someone didn't try to steal your purse or things out of it....I know that "panic" feeling. I left mine at Starbucks, on a chair on the outside patio, a couple of years ago. Same result. Was I ever grateful!

Stay Cozy, Carrie

BTW I love the Goodwill to!

Hi Denise, I know the feeling, but my wallet was not recovered and I had to call credit card companies and had to get a new drivers license and I lost picture and more. You were very lucky!

I went through a period in my 20s when I left my purse a bunch of times. It feels horrible. Glad those fine grocery store people are good folks!
