We've spent this morning in the garden doing some fertilizing and weeding so this Sunday post isn't as early as I would like it... perhaps I should get in to the habit of writing it out late Saturday night so it's ready to go?
Anyway, here we are week 2 of Sunday Musings. I hope this turns out to be a regular post from me so I can catch up with the week. Remember last Sunday we were celebrating mom-in-law's birthday and I was making a yummy Mexican type meal. Well I will reveal now that I made Pioneer Woman's Spicy Pulled Pork and I served it with warm tortillas and Mexican rice. For appetizers I also made PW's pico de gallo and guacamole and made Margaritas for everyone too. I'll be sharing the recipes on Tuesday for my PW post, so no pictures of that right now I'm afraid. But here are a few pics I took. . .

I got my hair cut this week! That's not usually an event worth mentioning, but I haven't had it styled in over a year. I've had a trim from someone (not my regular hairdresser who I've used for years) and I've cut a few inches off here and there over the past year. My new profile picture shows how long it was, and I do like the look of my hair in that picture, but you know how it is... it never looks like that every day, usually it's pulled back in a pony tail when it gets that long. So, I had it restyled back to how it was last Summer and I tried to take a photo for you!

I had a night out this week, to my regular monthly book club meeting. I love this club and this 'bunch of women' who to be honest I only see once a month as we gather to discuss our book! We were reading Atonement this month but I only got half way through the book and couldn't renew it at the library so I borrowed the movie from a friend and watched it (on my own I might add, Jason wasn't too interested in seeing it) last Friday night. I was expecting the movie to be really depressing because the friend that I borrowed it from said it was, but I found it more sad than depressing. It was quite an interesting story line. I won't go in to what it was about in case I spoil the story or give too much away.

If you don't already know I am trying to update our 'garden blog' on a weekly basis too. I posted 'week 2' yesterday. You can CLICK HERE if you'd like to go take a look and see what's growing. And the link is now on my right side bar. Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday. Ours isn't over yet and I'm looking forward to a relaxing evening in front of the TV.

Denise, great pics. I am sure your mil loved her dinner that you created. I can't wait to see the pictures on Tuesday.
The shawl is gorgeous. Such hard work you put into her birthday. I'm sure she felt special.
Love the picture of her and Jason though. Love how he is sniffing the cologne.
Hope your having a great weekend.

I have been dying to see your hair and it is very cute! I love it. I can't believe how much you cut off. You did like me and went for it! Looks great!
I will try and start reading this book (along with the two others that I have going) and finish it before you go to your book club.

Amo bolo de chocolate...hmmmmmm

love your update post :o) the shawl is beautiful.
I finally got my hair cut last Monday, it had been over a year since I last had it cut and it was sooooooo long! Your hair do looks very nice :O) I also cut Humbugs hair. I didn't want to as she had curls at the end of her hair, but it was down to her bum so needed to be cut. I've kept the curls, tied up with ribbon. I was almost crying as I snipped away. Turned out pretty well though!
Got to scoot. Have a lovely Monday xx
Denise!! You made that shawl? You are such a Renaissance woman! That's absolutely beautiful.
And you're beautiful, too--I like your new hairdo! Only once have I tried to take a photo of myself in the mirror--it's really hard, isn't it?
Have a great day!
What a fabulous birthday party! Love the beautiful shawl.
Denise your haircut is precious. You look so pretty! :)
Loved the photos of the birthday party! The shawl is so beautiful and I am sure your MIL loved this!
Have a wonderful dy!
Hugs and blessings.
Hi Denise! That shawl is beautiful and the cake looks delicious! My mother-in-law gave me the bottles that are in my flower bed so I don't where they came from, and they hold tea candles. I just use them as a decoration and hardly ever light the candles cause the bottle part is hard to remove. Hope you are having a wonderful Monday! It's only 60 here today! ((BIG HUGS))
BTW, your hair looks cute but it always does! :o)
the shawl is lovely! and your hair looks great, cute pic :) have a great week! susan
Hi Denise, I like your new hair cut. I got mine done also before Easter but mine curls, too much at times. I am interested in how you made the pulled pork. My husband has made that in the oven and crock pot. He can't eat port now so he uses beef. Have a great week. Hugs
Hi Denise! Great photo and your hair looks like a nice length. The shawl you made for your MIL is lovely- so nice and lacy. The Mexican dinner sounds great. Have your in-laws always lived in Texas?
I have mostly perennials, too, but I have the one area in the front flower bed that I rotate from Iceland poppies to zinnias so it's just twice a year. People walking stop and admire them. I see them from my computer room window. :) (((Hugz)))
That looks like a great party! Wonderful job putting it together. I loved The Art of Racing in the Rain. It really touched my heart.
btw I made the pistachio salad you posted about for my family and everyone loved it! My dad wouldn't let anyone else take any of the leftovers he wanted them all.
Your MIL really enjoyed her bday party and her presents. I can tell from her face. Your hair is lovely, Denise, very pretty!....Christine
