.... For years I've wanted to decorate a gingerbread house with Kristen at Christmas time.... last night we finally did! I don't know why I've never gotten around to it before, but you know how this time of year is, you just get busy doing one thing after another. Before I knew it Christmas Eve is here and once again I hadn't bought a gingerbread house to do.

This year I bought the gb house months ago when they first appeared in the stores. I told Kristen we'd do it once school was over. Last night I told her to go put on some pj's (her red ones) so it would look festive when I took some pictures. She came down wearing the santa hat too :-)

It didn't take too long to do because the house was already assembled. I can't imagine having to try and stick those sides together, I've heard it can be a pain and more often than not they just fall apart before they set!
So today I'm just cleaning up around the house and I think I will bake some cookies later this afternoon. Jason has popped out for some last minute shopping and when he gets back I'm going to venture out to the store so I don't have to go early tomorrow or on Christmas Eve!
Hope you all have a wonderful Saturday.

Great job, Denise and Kristen! Love that she donned the Santa hat! We made one last year and I have another one waiting here to do, too. Maybe Justin will do it with me on Christmas Eve. :) Ours is the kind you have to assemble, tho, but we did well with it last year. It smelled so good for weeks! We didn't eat it. (((Hugz)))
You two have inspired me to give it a try and assemble one. I saw them so when I am out today later I will pick one up. Let's see if we can manage as well as you two did.
Cheers!
Hi Denise!! Oh that looks fantastic!! Great job!! I love the pictures. Merry Christmas!! ((BIG HUGS))!!
:o) I love it. I really do. I can't help it, I like making mine from scratch, even if it does take the best part of a week. Just shown MIL the one I made for humbug, and she was suitably impressed! And yes, you are right. Sticking them together is a real pain in the bum. It takes time, and lots of wedging up with tins of beans or anything that will fit. The reason the one I started making for the boys collapsed was because I tried to rush it. It takes a bit of time and patience. Two things I don't have a lot of! They won't mind at all when they open their pressies this year. (K has a gb house kit, and E has a gb train kit!)
I love how festive K looks as she decorates the house.
I hope the shops weren't too crowded for you. I am pleased not to have been out at all today.
Oh Dudley, what a little rascal! I have half a thought that he did it to remind me just how important he is. I am so busy with humbug that I don't always have time to fuss over him. I feel bad about that, but there isn't much I can do about it. I have to put Gorgeous Girl first. He has been so spoilt to make up for things. :o)
got to go. it's been a very long day!
xx
Hi Denise! Glad you've started the mimosa tradition. ;) The cinnabuns sound like a perfect treat, too. (((Christmas Hugz)))
Hi Denise,
Look at how cute Kirsten looks in red. It's always special doing mother and daughter things together...maybe you've started a new tradition! Very cute house BTW.
Merry Christmas for tomorrow. It's already 8.34pm Christmas Eve here so not long until santa arrives!
Leaving you big Christmas hugs across the miles, xxxx
