I am determined to be organized and ahead of the game this Christmas, so much so that I bought this from Amazon last week, and it finally arrived yesterday . . .

The Gooseberry Patch 'All Through The House' Collectors Edition.
Over 600 holiday recipes, cheery crafts and easy-t0-make gifts for flurries of fun!
You can call me crazy all you like, but I've had enough of Summer! I can't remember the last time the temperature was below 95 degrees, and apart from the 10 minutes of rain we got yesterday, we haven't had a good downpour since my sister was here at the beginning of June. Christmas planning and looking ahead to cooler weather is helping keep me sane at the minute. I hope you will indulge me and let me share a few pages with you ;-)
I do know someone who will love this book, so I'm showing a picture of the inside cover. especially for S! You can click on the pictures to see them larger.

Kristen saw this next picture and wants to do a tree like this. I have 3 small trees that sat outside our front door last year with lights on. I can use one of them (it's just 3 ft tall) to recreate this, but I don't think it will have the dog bowl and biscuits around the bottom.

HobbyLobby has the clear glass baubles on sale already. We can add white paint inside of them and the book has the template for the cat and dog cutouts. For the little photo frames (which apparently are leather luggage labels) I think we'll just make our own out of cardstock, and we can put pictures of Boo in them, and if I can get photos of our other friend's dogs we'll add those too. This will be a fun project for Kristen, she just loves anything 'dogs' :-) And of course, now that I've got my sewing machine out, the little fabric bones will be easy to sew up.
Another page I liked was this one. . .

I love oatmeal cookies so I want to try this recipe. What I love about the cannister is that it's actually made from the empty oatmeal cannister. I have two of those sitting in my pantry right now. I can put the oatmeal in a ziploc bag and have a go at making these pretty soon.
And finally, I want to try and recreate this look for my mantle this year. . .

Mainly the green swag. I have one like this but I've never thought to add the baubles and other ornaments to it. I have wooden blocks that spell out 'Merry Christmas' too so I can add those. And I like the thin white candles too (these look like the battery operated ones, not real candles, which is always safer).

Today is also 'Where's Mom' day. This is a new meme I thought I would try to participate in. Every Thursday you are to post a picture of 'you' and one or more of your children. Not sure if this means any picture, or if it has to be a current one taken that week? I may have to cheat a little with this one and sometimes post an oldie! And sometimes it might not even be with Kristen!! I'll keep the Christmas theme going for today though and show you a picture taken this past Christmas. . .

Ahhhh, look at all that lovely cold snow!!!

bless you! Thank you for sharing so much of your Christmas plans, and you just know I am sitting her pink with delight and applauding you for making an early start!
I shared some of my Christmas plans on CR back in April (!!!) and my point is exactly what you are saying here. Make an early start when the mood takes you, not when it's 'right' to start planning. This year I plan to have a totally different look to our Chirstmas decorations, I am working on a real vintage theme, so showed things as I made or bought them. I know it's not your style, but it might indulge your festive mood even further. The main reason I've been doing so much so early is down to cost. I wanted mercurised baubles (not cheap as chips sadly) and paper roses, tiny pink Christmas trees and to stock up on tissue paper (which I plan to use as wrapping paper this year to continue the vintage theme). If I left all of that until November I simply wouldn't be able to afford to get it all. Spreading the cost over the year is so much more sensible and also, when placing orders, means they are in stock and sent out quickly. I bet if I tried to order my two tiny pink trees in November they'd be sold out. So good for you Denise! Good for you for planning ahead and giving yourself time to make or do things and try them out first.
I can't praise you enough!
Love the doggy themed tree, that's a gorgeous idea.
I am lucky enough to have 3 of the GP Christmas books, and funnily enough the time when I look through them most is summer. They really ooze Christmas spirit and give so much inspiration. The one you've got there looks fab, might have to track it down on Amazon :O)
Thank you so much for taking the time to upload so many photos, I've really enjoyed it!
Love the snow picture. You will chuckle when you see what Humbug is wearing on my diary today ;O)
xxxxx
Welcome to Where's Mom. It's a great challenge to get us in front of the camera. Great shot of you and the snow but I can wait...still loving summer here (but we don't get the crazy hot temps you're having).
So glad you decided to join in the challenge! It is such a great way to get yourself out from behind the camera and into the picture.
Great first picture, and before you know it...it will be that time of year again!
Thanks for stopping by my blog today & for letting me know you are doing the challange too. It is big fun...keeps us on our toes & in front of the camera with our family...where we should be:)
Can't wait to see more of your fun pictures.
We get snow like that here...but I have to say, I am not missing it just yet.
:o) had to come back to have another look at Christmas. I think I'll have to dig out some festive books this evening ;o) xx
Hi Denise! Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting! I love that book, I'll be heading to amazon next. You've got me thinking of Christmas already - and more craft projects! Thanks for the inspiration, and good luck with picture project. I am doing the project 365 and it has really been fun to capture 'normal' day to day things that would otherwise never be documented.
Stop by anytime!
I'm so not ready for Christmas yet... we've barely had a summer so far it's been so cool and rainy.
Love the pic of you & Kiki!
Merry Christmas in July to you!
Hugs xo
