There are many names for this week's dish, picked by Melanie. The one I like best which is as simple as the dish itself, is 'Egg in a Hole'! You simply take a slice of bread, cut a hole in it with a cookie cutter, fry the bread in butter and drop the egg in the hole - what could be simpler than that? Nothing..... this dish was so easy to do and a perfect way to spoil my hubby on Father's Day. Yes, this, along with a delicious hot cup of coffee was his 'special breakfast' on his 'special day, and he loved it :-)

Verdict: I could only get one slice of bread in my skillet at once, but I made another one of these for Kristen too. It got two thumbs up from both Jason and Kristen.... me? I'd give it 3 thumbs up if I could - not the healthiest of breakfasts (I don't even like to think of how much butter was soaked in to that bread) but totally delicious, and perfect for Lazy Sunday Mornings. Definitely a keeper I just can't bring myself to make it very often (which I think my arteries will thank me for). But yay, another hit from PW :-)

Hey sweetie,
We call that "Toad in the hole" here. Yummy, and I'm sure Jason really appreciate your efforts for him. What do you do with the bit you cut out? Here the cut out circle is cooked along side the toast, but when it's done, the "hole" part you've cut out is spread with jam..... to be eaten after the toad in the hole. Do you do that?
Have a great week sweetie. ((((hugs))))mwah.
looks easy enough! I will try! Thanks!!
Loved this! Have cooked it a lot and could eat way to many pieces:(
Alex would LOVE this one too! I'll have to make it for him. Thanks for sharing the simple recipe Denise.
Have a wonderful day. ~Melissa :)
This is always good...we call it "Eggs in a Basket"...my kids love it! :D
Egg in the hole looks yummy and the best part is it sounds simple to make ;o) Sounds like Jason had a wonderful Father's Day! I don't like getting out as much as I once did and starting to become a homebody. Hope you are having a great day and staying cool! ((BIG HUGS))
P.S. Is that a widget you are using for your "Blogs I Like To Read"?
Well, I'm sure I'd love it beacause a.-butter and b.-bread. Two things I try to stay away from (not super successfully I'm afraid!)
LOL at toad in the hole- leave it to the Aussies (and Brit's) to have funny names! I'm sure it was especially good with homemade bread! I'll take yuummy breads any day over sweets. (((Hugz)))
That looks good!! My dad made me poached eggs on toast when I was little. It was my favorite. Have a nice evening!! ((BIG HUGS))!!
ooh yum, that looks scrummy. Might have to give that a whirl on a day when I don't care about calories :o)
