I'll share with you a couple of pictures I took last weekend. I think I mentioned that we did a little yard work before Easter. Jason and I wanted to try and clean out some of the veggie beds from last year. You'll remember what a disappointing time we had with the veg that never grew.... the 'crappy' soil etc! Jason was so disheartened that he just let it all go. The beds got over run with weeds and grass. Except one of them that I had tried to clear out at the end of last summer. That was the one we cleaned up this past weekend. We bought some manure to add to the soil in the hope it would help and we bought a couple of tomato plants and peppers and some herbs.
First I have to show you the parsley that is in one of the beds. This has been there all year and just keeps growing. Strange when nothing else seemed to grow in that stuff. Jason says it's because it's roots finally made it through the 'yuck' soil and in to our own good soil that is in the yard.

So what else has been going on this week? Well it's week 2 on the beach for Jason. I'm happy to say last week he lost about 4lb, and that's with going to Chuy's midweek for lunch and having 2 or 3 beers on Easter Sunday, plus Easter dinner. This week is going ok, although he had Chuy's again yesterday, so I think it's gonna be a slow process :-/
I have some food pics to share with you but I'll leave that for tomorrow so this post doesn't get too long. I have to go out this morning for library duty. I just hope someone comes in to take out a book or I'll once again feel like I've wasted my time!
Hope you all have a great day.

starting off seeds for tomatoes and pumpkins is high on my list right now too Denise. I'm glad I didn't do it earlier, if I'd put them out the snow at the weekend would have killed them off. I can start some and put on windowsills and in Gingerbread House. We're going to use Pumpkin Patch Farm this year, the first time for a couple of years. I know that Humbug will love helping me out round there. :O) And, it's totally safe for her to do so, she can't run out into the driveway and road, because we have trellis blocking the part that's around the other side of the garage :O)
Good idea to get someone else to clear out the beds, it'll make it a zillion times easier for you to get on with things.
well, have a great Thursday. lots of love xxxxx
Hi Denise,
I watched all of the BBC version of Tom Jones on Sunday. I had never seen it. It was long.
I am a big Jane Austen fan... could you tell? :-)
Yep, it is snowing! Not liking it.
Have a good day. Danna
Hi Denise! I remember that bad soil you got... good to see you're still getting things to grow! Like everything else, you have BIG yards in Texas. ;) Glad to see Jason is getting some results on the SBD. (Shh-don't tll him beer's a no no!) Have a great Thursday! (((Hugz)))
I think I'm on to something with my paragraphs. If I just type out the post, but don't do a spell check and don't preview it, it works fine, but somehow if I do either of those two things before I publish, the paragraphs disappear. Crazy huh?
Well good for you, I am good at killing parsley or even mint. Mint usually grows like a weed for most people but not me. I didn't inherit my mum's green thumbs. Now that's nice, if you get them to clean up your flower beds then you'll have a fresh start. The manure should really help.
Hope you have a great weekend. It's already Friday morning here. Big huggles. xx
