Food for Thought!

My thanks to Sadie for sharing a lovely Easter graphic with us. Mmm, that choccy easter egg looks just like the ones I used to get when I was little at Easter time. Over here in the States Easter Eggs are slightly different. At Easter time in England all the big candy makers would create an egg to show off their specific candy bars. They were mounted in boxes. It's hard to explain really so I scoured the internet and found a few pictures.

Cadbury's is my favorite chocolate. And I always loved their easter eggs the best. Smarties and Flakes were my favorite. Smarties in the US are actually very different to the UK ones. The UK smarties are more like M&M's (but taste even better!) The smarties would be inside a large hollow chocolate egg. And the egg was always visible through the front of the box (as you can see in the Smartie egg box on the right).

This is the Flake egg box. They would look different every year, but you can see again in this one how the egg peaks through a window in the box. I miss buying these at this time of year. I'm happy to say I can still get a Cadbury's Creme Egg over here, which I indulge in once in a while around this time of year ;-)

OK, so enough about chocolate! I was trying to keep my food talk healthy, I just got carried away a little there. So dinner last night was Turkey Parmesan, once again from my little SB book. This one wasn't such a winner. It looks much nicer than it tasted. Not that it tasted awful, rather it just wasn't VERY tasteful. And I changed it slightly and used chicken, because believe it or not I couldn't find turkey cutlets in the store this week!

If you click on the picture of the recipe you might actually be able to read it all, should you want to give this a go (just excuse the water splashes on my page!). Remember I didn't say it tasted awful, just not as tasteful as I'd like it. Jason and I both agreed it was just OK, but I wouldn't bother to do it again.

It made for a pretty colorful plate though - don't you think?

Hi sweetie,
I'm still up, it's 10.42 Thursday night so not quite Good Friday yet, but close.

We have those chocolate eggs and lollies(candy) like you've shown here. The best ones are always Cadbury though. I always gave my kids a large 12" high egg, usually filled with Cadbury chocolates, and a Chocolate soldier bunny. This year they just want a 6" high bunny and small eggs, they realise all that chocolate they consumed other years was not the most healthy of things. Funny how they get to an age of figuring all that stuff out and making wiser choices. I will still have my Cadbury's bunny, but in very tiny pieces over a lot of days. What about you?

BTW, you're cooking looks so scrummy, I'm coming over for dinner OK! I'll copy out that recipe tomorrow, it looks terrific.

I'm heading upstairs to keep my dh company.

You have a great day. xx

PS. I wasn't sure if it would work to cut and paste, but I'll try that next time rather than losing my whole post trying to get a photo positioned right.

you would go loopy right now, lots of those eggs are on '3 for £5' offers! I have yet to scoff an egg as yet, I know my mum has snaffled a few and has had to buy replacements! Hilarious!

I have a really lovely chicken (or turkey) recipe, but it's not really SBD-ish. It's vaguely similar, but has breadcrumbs in it too. You coat the chicken with egg, then cover with breadcrumbs which has had thyme and parmesan mixed in with it. Then shallow fry until cooked through and golden brown. Bill absolutely loves it, and I make it a lot in summer. I like the look of your dinner though, looks yummalicious!

And you are welcome to the graphic, especially as I had your giftie in the post today! Thank you so, so much. :O) Humbug hasn't seen it yet, as she's having her nap, but she'll love it. I know she will. I've sent you an email to say thanks, I hope it gets through to you.

must go. need to write lists and make plans. Busy weekend ahead!

So the South Beach diet is easy to follow? I am having such a hard time trying to find something I could do. The dinner looks wonderful.

Hi,
I decided to go to my WW meeting tonight rather on Saturday. I want to take the kids to an Easter Egg Hunt. Easter chocolate in the US isn't very good except a few like See's or Cadbury. Got to go now. Hugs

Just stopping by to say Hi! I don't think I've added you to my list of reads yet, but will do that. Your dinner looks great. And now I want to make deviled eggs. *grin*
Was it you that likes to knit? I will have to go back and read. Olivia and I are learning slow, but yesterday I found this homemade washcloth and I SOOO want to learn how to make them. First though I have to be consistent, I won't even show you my practice run. LOL Have a very bless-ed Easter if I don't talk to you. Love ya!

Hey there

We're not doing anything too exciting for easter, just hanging out at home, we'll do an egg hunt and make a nice dinner. That's about it.

Hi Denise! How nice that Jason is doing SBD with you. Your food looks great. I haven't had deviled eggs in ages. I might make some up this weekend. I make mine the same way except that I sprinkle some paprika on top. Have a great weekend and a blessed Easter sweetie. Big hugs!!

Hello Denise, you're doing great with your diet, I'm impressed. The only thing I don't like with South Beach is the fake sugar, I'd rather not eat anything sweet instead :) You are so talented, I love the cute little bunny hat you have done for Sadie's daughter. It's so well done & gorgeous. Have a happy Easter, hugs

Please don't worry one little bit if you'd rather not do the 10 things nor ask others to do them, I totally understand that not everyone is comfortable with doing that.

I hope you have an awesome Easter. So when are you planning to go to England? Will all the family go?
