This morning Jason and I were wandering around in the 'farm' and we managed to harvest a few more things. The basket on the left is what we picked today. The other one still has veggies from earlier this week. Look, you can see our first carrots! These have taken what feels like months to get established and many of them are still rather small, but we pulled a few this morning and I used them in this 'Creamy Butternut Squash Soup', (along with our very own butternut squash that I had from the garden last week, of course).

We had a fun time celebrating Cheryl's birthday yesterday, with a bbq and cake with her family. Later this afternoon I'm taking Kristen around to the pool. One of our neighbors is having a little party for their one year old son. They're having a 'pool party' then we'll be going back to their front yard to let the kids 'bash the pinata'. I'll try to remember to carry my camera with me and get some pics. Other than that, we're just hanging around as usual and Jason is working in his office downstairs.
The weather is still hot, but not as hot as it's been. It's currently about 89, but we've had a few clouds today so it feels a little cooler when the sun isn't beating down. It's still forecast to be 97 today. We had some rumbles of thunder yesterday but still no rain. We did have a little down pour earlier this week. . . . look I took a picture to prove it

Hi Denise,
I tried making butternut squash soup once and it was terrible! Maybe I'll try your recipe and see if I like it better. It sounded so good, but it was awful, lol. I could stand some good 80 and 90 degree heat about now. Our high today (August 1) only made it to 78 degrees. It has been so cool this whole summer save for a week or so in June. I am not looking forward to winter at all!
Have a great rest of the weekend sweetie! xx
Hi Denise your butternut squash soup looks so yummy! must try that sometime. Wow rain in the summer but muggy for sure in Texas. I really had a hard time with the humidity in Texas when I would visit my dad there. Seemed the air was always on there. Have a great weekend and harvest! big hugs
I'm glad you got a bit of rain, but sad it wasn't enough. Must be horrible when it's so hot and humid. Last night we had a huge downpour, which was just gorgeous. I'm pleased it's stopped now, because we're off out this afternoon and I worry myself stupid if it rains hard when little one is in the car. I can't relax until we're back home. Mind you, can't relax where we're going either. To my SIL's house, her garden has a large pond and a swimming pool (I know - here!!!!), and the house is an old cottage with lots of steps to fall down so you have to watch a toddler like a hawk. It's so not safe. I hate going there for these reasons.
Anyway. Your soup looks lovely, I love butternut squash *anything* so I'd enjoy it. And how nice to be able to use everything from the garden. When I grow carrots I end up having to use them while they are tiny as they often don't get much bigger. I haven't grown any for ages, must do so next year.
Time I was off. Lots to do this morning.
Have a lovely Sunday, enjoy the pool party. xx
Oh... I've made that soup before and LOVE it!! Yummy!!
Looks like you are reaping TONS from your garden. You go girl!!
Your soup looks DELISH! Can't wait for winter (well actually I can since we really haven't barely had summer up here :-S)... then I'll make some butternut squash soup! YUM!
Hugs xo
