Please - no more heat!

The heat is getting to me! I hate to moan and complain about it but. . . well I can't help myself. I know some of you are saying you've hardly felt summer this year.... there are days when you barely get over 75 degrees, but right now that sounds so wonderful to me! 75 is the LOWEST it gets here. All this week it's been at least 100 degrees. I take my coffee outside and can't stay out there for more than 5 minutes, and that's in the shade at 8 o'clock in the morning! I just want a break from the heat, but it doesn't look like it's coming any time soon :-(

It was all I could do to pop outside for 5 minutes yesterday to snap a few pictures around the yard for this weeks Outdoor Wednesday! Here's what you can see if you dare step out in the Texas heat. . . .
I bought this planter at a yard sale last week - $3. I plan on giving it a coat of white paint and maybe 'de-stress' it some. I'll show you an after picture when I get around to doing it, errr that would be when the weather cools down!)

I also got this iron wall planter for $1 (it's hard to see but there is a round metal piece where a terracotta pot will fit in. I've no doubt I'll have to put 'fake' greenery in this as a real plant won't survive the heat.

The garden is looking a little 'shriveled' up

although our Pomegranate tree is still looking mighty 'green' (had no pomegranates off it yet!)

but seriously, how sad does our sunflower look . . . .

It's way too hot for me to sit out here. . . .

but I'm looking forward to the cooler days when I can put my feet up here and relax.

The petunias have seen better days, they're barely hanging in there. My pretty angel keeps watch over them, and I hope she's also praying for rain . . . . I know I am.

I hope you get some cool weather soon and in particular, a good dose of rain. Sounds absolutely horrible, and you know I would not like it one jot!

Don't worry about visiting today, no post from me. Nothing of note happened yesterday and I'm keeping computer switched off so I can get on with other things. Just zippnig round doing a few 'hello's' first!

I think your planter would look lovely painted and distressed, but you just knew I was going to say that didn't you!? With my 'paint everything in sight' mood! ha ha ha.

Have a lovely day. Sending some of my greyness and drizzle your way :O) xx

I can relate to your heat. I am not for from you, Ft. Worth. Everything here is burning up from the heat and wind. You live in a very nice part of Texas. Maybe, we will cool off and get some rain next month. Hang in there.

I do understand your frustration with the heat. It has been a very hot summer for us too.
But we do get a breeze from the ocean if there is any breeze to be had :D

I feel the heat just by looking at your pictures, and I agree: stay inside and keep on the AC!

It's so funny..., me too, instantly "felt" the heat just by looking at the pictures.

I wish I could blow the rain here to there :).
We are blessed with only two seasons. Dry and wet.

I love that seating area. Is it covered? I would like a covered area or even a screened area. We could put the canopy up on the porch but then it would block our view from the windows.
I like that Angel. The Petunias just look thirsty. I have to water my flowers. We had 1/2 an inch of rain yesterday. That is way too little. I'm ready for cooler temperatures, too.

Your pictures make me feel warm. Stay inside and, as the kids say, "Chill."

It has been hot here just the past week or so. I hate the heat and humidity so totally feel your pain.

I can just imagine you, in the Fall, all curled up on that outdoor seating with a good book and your coffee. That day is coming!

Hi Denise! Those were some nice finds at the yard sales! Sorry about that heat! One good thing about SoCal weather is it does cool off at night- it was in the upper 50's even tho it warmed up to the 90's today. It helps when you can throw open the windows and feel cool night air. Normally Jeff and I wait for "smaller" movies to come out on DVD. It's usally just the big special effect/blockbusters we go see at the theater. Tonight we have Rachel Getting Married. (((Hugz)))

You mentioned on my blog that you didn't consider whether your herbs are perennials or not. I thought you maybe didn't know if yours were or not but based on the ones you mentioned in your post last week and the ones you mentioned on my blog I made a list.

Basil is a annual unless you are in a tropical climate, but Thai Basil is a perennial. Parsley, Dill, Mints-Peppermint Spearmint, Rosemary, Oregano are all perennials.

I would dry the basil if you would like to save some of it. If you get enough for your needs you may only want to plant every other year if you don't need that much.

I hope this imformation is helpful.

Oh Denise, I'm so sorry you've had such heat to endure. I heard it rained in Austen today. My brother and his family who live in Dallas are escaping to Southern California next week. I hope it stays bearable there for them :0)

I am hoping for cooler weather soon also. I love to drink my tea in the morning out on the deck, but it has just been too hot! I really like your patio furniture. It looks very inviting. Have a wonderful week!

Everything looks great around the yard this week... despite the HOT temps! I loved sitting out on your back porch in your comfy sofa area. I wish we lived in a climate a little warmer so I could have a nice outdoor living space too... maybe some day ;-)

Love ya xo

Denise, today and yesterday were so nice and hot. We have been begging for some heat as you know.
This week is the BEST! I know how hot it gets where you are. We lived in AZ. and Georgia... heck it was so hot I used to do my grocery shopping at midnight!!!
Love your porch area. I hope you can use it soon enough.
Your sun flowers only look tired, that's all right?
Oh I also dropped in to say I "only" have 6 dogs, not ten! I have 2 cats that we rescued & a beautiful singing canary & 2 degus.
You can send Kristen over anytime. She would have a blast here by the river with all the fur babies.
It would be a long ride... and I hope she has her passport LOL
I will come and see all your blogs soon. How do you keep up with all of them? I'm sure you have been asked that question many times over.
Come visit on Met Monday. I will have my front yard make over. I'm working on it right now.
Have a cool rest of week Denise.
Love Claudie
