A Relaxing Weekend

It's Saturday afternoon and I've been out in the back garden this morning. We don't have any sunshine today but it is so warm out there Jason and I popped out to start working a little on our veggie beds. I went up to the grocery store this morning and came home with these. . . .

Yes, tomato plants and herbs are on sale in abundance, and because we are late again this year and haven't even started any seeds off I decided to indulge myself and buy some already grown. I also bought some bell peppers and jalapenos and a little strawberry plant .

Some of the pots had 2 or 3 little shoots in them so I split them up and repotted them to make individual plants. We'll wait another week or so before putting them in to the beds. Here they are in our little greenhouse I bought last year at Lowes. . .

While I was out there I decided to move the corner seating that is under the porch and put the table and chairs there instead. . .

This will work better for now because I'm not getting the seating cushions out just yet but it's nice to be able to sit at the table (and in the shade when we need it) and have lunch or coffee in the mornings. We sat here and had a sandwich for lunch and it was so relaxing.

I've been working on my Cooking Blog this week too and decided to start posting my recipes from Pioneer Woman's Cookbook. I really do want to work my way through all of her lovely recipes (don't know how long that will take me) but I thought it would be fun to blog about them over there. I posted the Chicken Spaghetti recipe that I already added here, and I earlier this week I made her Chicken Pot Pie, so I just posted that. You can CLICK HERE if you'd like to pop over and take a look.

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend. What are you up to? Would love to hear from you and share what you are doing this weekend.

I think everyone is having lovely weather this weekend, Den. Your plants look great and I adore the greenhouse you got from Lowes. Very cool. I have such a long time to wait to plant...I'll just have to be patient.

Love your idea of posting recipes from the Pioneers Woman's cookbook. Sort through them for us! They are all good!

we went to the garden centre yesterday. The outside section had herbs, soft fruit plants (raspberries, strawbs and rhubarb etc), but no veggies. I was hoping to get a few and keep inside. We still have a hard frost in the morning, so nothing can go out yet. Inside the shop, they had little tomato plugs, so I was able to buy a couple. Yey. They're indoors (obviously!), until bigger and the weather is warmer. We also bought seeds for green beens, aubergine and some potatoes. I've got some carrot and lettuce seeds to start off soon. All being well, we should have a good stash this year. :o)

I was inspired by your spaghetti dish last week. I made myself something similar, only using a carbonara sauce, leaving out the meat (it was one of my veggie days), and sprinkling cheddar and feta on top. It was yummy. I ended up making macaroni cheese for myself the following day too!

Like the changes you've made on your porch. I love getting outside and having a spring tidy up. Humbug and I were out in the front garden, clearing out Pumpkin Patch Farm, branches of the Christmas tree were still in there. Now it's cleared and ready for the tomatoes when it's time.

Time I was off. No update on CR yet, but there will be in a couple of weeks time. Just enjoying keeping my computer time seriously limited, I've even ended up having time to read! So lovely. :o)

Have a lovely Sunday. Ooh, while I think of it (I'm sure you know already), but it's Mother's Day here next Sunday, th 14th.

Hi Denise, was wondering how you have been doing. I bet you miss Mam. How are you doing on the Rev study? Joanie mentioned she could not get in. I hope all is well. We have had cold(for us)rainy weather. My procedure went well but now by back ha gone out. Have a great Sunday! Hugs

Hi Denise! Thanks for stopping by! I like your little green house. I need one of those... I also think the table and chairs looks great and very inviting on your back porch. I hope you had a great weekend!

It looks like you have had a nice weekend. You have inspired me to go and buy some herbs and see if I can grow them.

I haven't emailed you because I have been painting and then cleaning up the mess. We will talk tomorrow. Enjoy your evening.

I have not done one thing toward a garden yet!

Good for you though.

Denise,

I have been rubbish at coming over here and reading your lovely blog. Here's the problem besides our big move. I have your "Healthy Den" blog as the one I am following and I enjoy that, I just have to put this one in my blog roll.

Anyway, your little greenhouse is great and I look forward to following along with your garden as it grows.

Blessings,
Carol

you really are getting ready for spring there in Texas. Wish it was nice enough here to start on some "spring planting" but we still have some dreaded four letter word SNOW, on the ground. UGH! But the days lately have been nice and sunny...and temps getting to around 50, so hoping soon, I can get some little plants too. :)

Have a blessed Monday!
Hugs,
Cindy

Hi Denise! I hope your garden is as successful as last years! Probably a good idea to wait a week or two with the crazy weather everyone is having. El Nino is giving us a lot of rain- almost every weekend. Bad timing!

Flat Stanley is like our Elliot the mouse. It's usually a 3rd-5th grade school project. Kids send him to friends around the country/world and they photograph him at landmarks and write about his visit. Jana (Faith's mom) wanted him to go to Rodeo Drive. We'll also take him to Malibu and photograph him with the Hollywood sign, etc...

We made it to 50, and sunny, so it was good. I walked to the beach, but it was too windy.
No planting here till after Mother's Day..it still gets cold at night. You are off to a good start!

What a great way to welcome spring. I'm so excited to see the trees budding around my house, and I'm anticipating the welcome of spring.
