New friends and old ...and a surprise phone call.

I've been blogging for a few years now and have even met some of my 'blogging buddies' that I now think of as 'old friends'. But what I love about blogging is the opportunity we have to still make new friends. I still love to surf in and out of peoples blogs from a link here or a comment left there... and just a few weeks ago I did just that. I wandered in to Mel's blog :-) I don't know how we actually got 'chatting', I know I left a comment, and I think Mel replied to that comment that came directly to my email inbox... yes, that's how we got chatting - the emails just kept coming and I knew I had found another special friend... one who I wish I lived closer to, one who I could chat all day to, one who I felt like I'd known much longer than I actually had :-)

Melanie had just moved from Florida to Kentucky and was experiencing her first winter there! As much as I loved all the snow pictures she was sharing I knew she wasn't having as much fun seeing it all and living 'in it'. She hadn't had sunshine for days and the grey snowy days were wearing on her. She had recently commented on my 'snowy day video' that I should have talked so she could hear my accent, so I decided I'd surprise her with a phone call and she could hear for herself what I sound like!

I 'snatched' this lovely pic from Mel's blog, but I know she won't mind. This is her sweet hubby Gary, and do you know they were both born on the same day in the same hospital just hours apart, I think that's amazing.

I was right, Mel was 'tickled' to hear my voice (my funny accent) which she said sounded more Scottish than English, to which I explained that's cos I live nearer to Scotland than say London! I think I brightened her day just a little, and she certainly brightened mine, with her lovely 'southern' accent (I felt like I was talking to Paula Deen Ya'll) LOL :-)

And speaking of 'old' friends... this (below) is my bloggy bud Sue who I've been blessed to meet 3 or 4 times now, she being the one that kindly always comes to me :) I love her visits, and hope I haven't seen the last of them

and this is Tammy, goodness, don't we look young (not that we look old now!), this was taken when Kristen was nearly 2 (Aug 02). Tammy and her family were on their way to DC and stopped in for a few hours so we could meet for the first (and only, so far) time.

I've also met sweet Susan, but I don't have a picture on my computer of us both! I met Susan when I went to meet another friend while I was in CA (other friend doesn't blog now but I do keep in touch via Facebook) :-) All of these gals feel like dear old friends to me and I still chat to them online every day. I feel so blessed to have so many friends.

Have you met any 'online buddies'.... made any new friends lately? Blogging brings s a world of fun, don't you think?

I always love to have new visitors drop by my blog you never know which one is going to be a special person in your life. I have some old friends that I look forward to hearing from each time post. I would love to hear their voices or see them in person.

You most definitely have not seen the last of me... next time I get the chance to come on down with Dougie to Texas, I will for sure be stopping in for a visit! I wish I could go with him every time he has to go.

Hopefully soon we can get back to "daily" chats online too - I have very much missed them... as I do miss you!

Hugs & Love xo

P.S. I'm trying to convince Doug that we need to summer vacation at the Alabama Coast this year (so I can meet Tammy finally!) lol

Hi Denise! I feel like I have so many great friends from blogging although I've only met a few. But they better watch out because when Jeff retires, I might just end up in their neck of the woods. You'll have to put your voice on a video for us to hear. Years ago we did that for HW- it was called Holiday Howdy and we did it at Christmas. It was such fun!

Our weather has been chilly for us and it's been raining almost every weekend. Guess it's the effects of El Nino. Looking forward to spring and our normal sunshine. (((Hugz)))

What a sweet post about your bloggy friends:) I am thankful to be in that group.

Your post made my day as did your phone call. I haven't stopped thinking about your accent. I LOVE IT!

I hope that one day when we go to Texas to visit family that we get to meet. I would love that.

I'm so glad to have you as a new reader! We don't live too far apart, and that's exciting!
I recently made a great blog friend the same way you did, comment then email, now chatting and texting. We haven't met yet, but definitely will. It's wonderful this way because you can get to know someone so quickly and without pretense.

I loved to see your friends that you've been blessed to meet. Man, I wish I had met you while you guys were still in our area. You would have heard another Kentucky girl with a southern drawl, and even though I lived in Eng. for three years, I NEVER tire of hearing your wonderful accent. But on of these days while floating in and out of Texas we will meet. I look forward to it. :)

I have met sweet Sue too, but would give a love to get the chance to met with Susan and Tammy.

I like making new friends on the net too, that is one of the great joys of blogging for me. Love the "old friends" but there is always room for more. :) Kinda like Jello.

Hope you have a blessed weekend.
Hugs,
Cindy

Denise - yes, blogging friends are so lovely. I have met with Susan a few times now, & it's like we have always been friends. She is so special to me. My best friend is British, so I thought you would sound like her. It's funny - I like to hear her talk, & she likes to hear me talk. :-) I guess we never think that we Americans have accents. What a sweet story about your new friend Mel! Loved it! Sending you big hugs Denise!
